And I feel sorry for you for judging someone you don't even know. I am a Master Mason. The fraternity house I belong to takes care of a school with 200 children (6 of whom are autistic) for life. I and 11 brothers embraced 3 sick people (all adults) who have the disease "brittle bones" and took care of them!! During the floods in Rio Grande do Sul (State of Brazil), we donated 12 tons of clothes and R$300,000.00 (something like 60,000.00 dollars) to the families who lost everything.
And you feel sorry for my lack of empathy??? How many lives have you saved in the last few months???
Don't judge someone you don't even know!!

And I repeat: Unfortunately, I wasn't there to give myself as a true friend to young Mats Steen who unfortunately only found joy in a game on a computer. He deserved real friends who truly embrace him and not an illusion made of pixels and dependent on a good internet. This boy deserved much more!! If you are such nerdy fanboys that you can't understand this, I'M THE ONE WHO SHOULD FEEL SORRY FOR YOU!!!

WoW literally saved the life of a deeply depressed friend I had back in the early 2000s, so this kind of story hits pretty close to home.

This is a thread about a deceased teenager finding community in a video game, and your reaction to that is to talk it down with false pity and then go on a self-aggrandizing tirade.

It takes quite the narcissist to not see how deranged that behavior is.

Look mate, the article is about a deceased, ill boy who found a moment of solace to his suffering in a videogame.
You don't have to insert yourself into this. Just shutting the fuck up is totally valid choice if you don't have anything positive to say.
Have the good grace of doing that, why don't you?

You can be the main character of any other thread in this forum. Just not this one.
Now just fuck off to those other threads you twat. Go on.

Imagine feeling sorry for someone for finding peace and happiness.

I see people who work 12 hour days, with a Wife they don't love and Kids they don't want. Miserable every day to fulfill some social requirment of what is required to be called "a life". But there never happy, there just always too busy to notice. Those are the people I feel sorry for.

We're all just super-intelliegent apes living on a rock flying through space, nothing you do or say really matters, nothing is real. So just do what makes you happy.

Aw man, poor young lad. This made me remember that one kid that went to blizzard HQ to make (and get) the al'ar mount with them, and some of the gladiator weapons and that one Mulgore quest, because Playing WoW with his father was all his world. Such a shame they couldn't experience life at its fullest, but glad at least they found some joy.

Sounds like good work. I appreciate it, whatever my opinions on freemasonry. Unfortunately, whether or not you're a good person is irrelevant to people who are mocking your behavior and not your character.

Whether a heavy and bittersweet story like this should be washed down by levity is a matter of debate. It might be in poor taste, it might be needed. Whatever the case, I appreciate your effort in providing that levity.

I thought you were a two-bit hack of a film producer. And given the way you act, not only do I not believe you were part of anyone's caregiving, but you would be one last misfortune before Mats Steen's passing.

Happiness is happiness. Happiness itself should be valued, not what it comes from.

All the efficiency, productivity, work, accomplishments, etc. you can imagine are all for the end-goal of happiness. These things are not valuable in of themselves.

You're the guy who barged into the thread doing just that.

Why on earth you decided to make this thread about yourself is anyone's guess.

Remotely on topic, it's nice to hear not only how it gave this kid a way to connect to others in ways he otherwise couldn't but how this experience also allowed his parents to get a glimpse into his life and how their son was able to help others even after he was gone.

just because you might be doing good things there, doesn't mean you get to come here and be a fucking cunt to people here. If Lex Luthor saved a child from being hit by a car, we wouldn't suddenly forget all the bad things he's done. Doing one good thing doesn't negate the fact that you come here and spout negativity, bullshit, misinformation and just in general being a fucking asshole to everyone.

The documentary is "Ibelin" (English title is "The Remarkable Life of Ibelin" and is coming to netflix in the end of October according to some sites.

Really good documentary, probably half the movie is told within the game itself in a cinematic way. I was at the cinema premiere in my city and his father was there asking us questions after. Really strong impression.
