Given A) the sets get cheaper as you buy more 2) the event lasts more than two months and the bonuses after 100... i really dont see why this was needed... but sure ill take it.

  2. #22
its not like i care as i do most of those activitis anyway, but i cannot wrap my head around why ANNIVERSARY activities give no tokens for ANNIVERSARY stuff...
like... its mental, you win aniversary event and get nothing, you go do few wq on the other side of world that have nothing to do with aniversary and you get tokens... why?!

  3. #23
Like, there must be a reason for them holding back every time there is events like this.

As I see it, they want players to dive into the even in week one, to be familiar with the content and so on. In this case, having many sources of the currency, but low in numbers is an incentive in this case. So if this is their idea, its working pretty good.

Now, I dont know if they effed up again, but a pattern do show intentions, now way Blizzard dont know this after both Remix and Plunderstorm.

So question is then, why not some transparency?

  4. #24
Wow... what a surprise they will nerf grind/add new ways to obtain this currency...
They obviously absolutely could not do it from feedback given during tests and had to make this change when the patch is live for 1-2 weeks, right?
I guarantee you that within 1-3 weeks we will see additional 'hotfix' that will increase currency earnings by 50-100% from all sources.

Just another example of devs being bad at math.

This game is 20 years old and devs still haven't learnt, how to make fun optional events. Just implement 30 coins cap and allow players to earn them via doing whatever content, they like. Nope. We need to implement some mandatory grinds, even it's it's holiday event, that is supposed to be fun. Just because nobody would do c**ppy content then. And it's way too hard not to make c**ppy content.

FOMO, gating, RNG, grind, overtuning, competition - endgame.
Solo MMO: no more humiliating queues and toxic competing.
Aggro and combat: game would only be better without obsoleted mechanics.
DF in a nutshell: GW2 copy-paste with AFK events and nothing to do.

yeah that is a bit bizarre. like sure, those events have achievements tied to them for the meta but you would think that at least the first one of the day or week would give something. it could well be that is the thing we are getting when we hit 100 tokens maybe? who knows. would be nice though. right now for me the only thing I do there is the Mount Off to see in what new, unique ways the mount person will troll everyone

If it offended or upset you in anyway that says more about you than it does me, I wouldn't care at all if someone called me a no liefer I would actually ignore them since internet nobody opinions on MMO Champion, Trade Chat, Official Forums and Reddit are like assholes and I dont care about assholes on the Internet.

Scrapbot might delete this but I dont give a fuck about Scrapbot either.

Edgy I know but when dealing with the Dead Internet what can you do.

The whole thing is built like a regular content patch meant to last for 3 months, so they designed rewards and currency with that in mind instead of understanding that a celebration on a videogame should be about giving players a lot of stuff for almost anything they do in-game. I'm glad they realized some of that in just one week, but it will be forever look like they where more worried about heavily monetizing their anniversary than about actually making a proper event to celebrate in-game.

What was the point of this response?
To clarify this did not offend me. These are forums about an MMORPG that most of us here play and since our experiences on this varied significantly, I made the remark to try to understand your logic behind your statement. Simple as that...

Right if you want to gate the content it sounds pretty simple

Cap at what you want weekly (let's say 30)
Give 10 per thing, with say 10 possible things
People can do what they want, get 30 move on till next week.

Instead of get 2-3 per thing and and up with 30 after hours of grinding grinding grinding

Even the dumbest of people would figure it out by doing this many events with thr same incoveniences. It's clearly deliberate to do it like this.

I am just glad they buffed it sooner than waiting 4 weeks and feeling like you wasted your time previously.

You need 320 to get every set. That's still a lot of grinding pre-buff. And during two major holidays in the US where not everyone can commit to regularly playing everyday. So yes, it was very much needed.

Blizzard needs to hit a floating target between retention mechanic and engaging content. Shoot too far one way and players will feel obligated to no-life content and will burn themselves out, leading to attrition. Too far in the other direction and you get the forum megaminds pointing out that their time gates are, in fact, retention mechanisms. The sweet spot is somewhere in the middle but this target will change depending on tons of mitigating factors which are insanely difficult to predict. (How many players will engage in the content? Do players actually like the content? Are the rewards sufficient?) I think they hit more than they miss but if you view their track record through the lens of forum feedback, it's understandable to come away with a slightly more cynical outlook.

In retrospect, they have been (at least recently) pretty good about communicating the reasons why they may miss the mark on this stuff. But the truth is no amount of communication from Blizzard will help players who just want a reason to justify their dissatisfaction. All we can hope is that they learn from the past and make quick adjustments when reality fails to line up with expectations.

To be fair, did anyone at Blizzard work there the last time this was called for?

Is it realistic to hope to have the contents of my guild bank be there when I log in? Because if that isn't the case, then I certainly expect there is a quick adjustment that could be made to get those contents back to me.

No. In fact, you should unsubscribe indefinitely and spend the rest of your life picketing Blizzard HQ until they give you the contents of your guild bank back. I would also strongly advise you to band together as many similarly disillusioned WoW players as you can so that you guys can start an armed militia that you can use to overthrow the tyrannical dictatorship currently in charge of Blizzard. Anything less than total subservience to the people is unacceptable.

edit: my lawyer (who is definitely not Ion Hazzikostas) has once again informed me that I must clarify that this post is actually sarcasm

Absolutely this. It was clear that they would eventually buff it, and I am really happy they went through with it early on.
