No minimum quality on public orders, why?

As the title says is there a particular reason for not being able to set a minimum quality on a public order just like patron orders?? While it was somewhat reasonable in DF where rng was involved in craft quality why on earth now that there's 0 rng you can't ask for a 4 or 5* craft? As it stands public orders are completely useless with the exception of items without quality rating (harbinger crests) because none will put an order for a 619 weapon only to have it crafted 1* by someone who learned the profession 15 minutes before...

Discriminating low skilled crafters, that's why!

Lets say they enable you to do that - in what scenario would anyone ever set anything less than rank 5 required?

pvp gear scales to same ilvl regardless of quality so its fine to craft lowest quality if you dont need it for pve
early xpac you also simply wont find anyone able to craft max quality

the only problem i see with public orders is people have no clue what to buy in mats for max quality.
The whole benefit of maxed professions is being able to craft max quali with bad mats.
So if someone does public order blind they buy max t3 mats and the potential profit vanishes for the crafter.

In other words if you want to have public orders with max quality it should be crafting for gold not for mats - this way crafter can provide mats according to their skills.

unfortunately that is not how it works in TWW - you need all max rank mats for a max rank craft. Unless you want the crafter to use concentration - in which case you pay about 100g per point in concentration and its actually more expensive than buying rank 3 mats.

so if pvp gear's craft quality doesnt matter...why do they need to add the option to specify which rank it should be? if anything that is an argument to not add quality selection.

"early expac not being able to craft" lasted about a month out of a 2 year expansion, so most likely they arent focused on changes which affect such a small part of the timeline

I don't know. But that does not make a difference, since I'm not seeing any order posted at all. Neiter this expansion nor in DF. People use the trade chat for their crafts. And in DF it made sense to disable the quality setting, since you as the crafter could not guarantee it. But now you can. Omitting the quality setting just makes public orders superfluous for any craft that has a quality.

Let's say you did not enable that, in what scenario would anyone ever post a public order? When did you see your last one?

So having only rank 5 orders posted would be significantly better than no order posted at all.

Concentration points arent worth 100g. I think best boe i can craft is something in 40-60g range on enchanter and below 40g on engineer.
Not to mention that most people aren't minmaxing making gold. Im frequently capped at 1000 concentration especially on engineer since its not wroth the trouble
If someone wants fishing rod from me i craft it all t2 mats + concentration since the real value of concentration to me is 0g.

Quality selection on pvp gear is a matter of whether you want to also use same gear for pve for higher price or keep it min quality for pure pvp use.

Crafting order system is about communication and personal orders. If someone don't want learn how things works or communicate, just push semi automated order, getting this way rank 2 /3 results are very good lesson and punishment.

Mainly because the you implement that, there is litteraly no reason anyone would 'request' anything but the highest rank

Crafters have to level their profession. They need to make a couple 2*-4* items before they can guarantee you a 5* craft. Or sink a lot of gold in useless green recipes nobody buys off of them praying to get a skill point more than 10% of the time.

As it is now they have at least a theoretical chance to see a public order.

It's pointless shit for the sake of having pointless shit.

The only time you will ever even see people running non max rank shit of anything is at the start of an xpac when prices are crazy and people don't have professions properly leveled yet. Ranks on mats, consumables and gear is the dumbest shit imaginable after that because nobody is going to be running non max rank shit in season 2 or season 3.

Crafting ranks should be removed from the game entirely. The problem is not public orders not having minimum quality, it's quality existing in the first place. It's pointless gating.
