What's there to cover? It's a great ARPG and I love it, but it's not remotely mainstream and there's nothing going on with it. It's had some nice big patches and some of those got picked up by some gaming media, but it probably won't get covered again until something meaningful happens - like shipping the expansion they announced last year. It got quite a bit of media coverage when it launched, as have its expansions.

Pretty similar to last epoch. At launched was spoken about as a d4 killer etc and did end up being a good game. Outside of the odd new season there's not much to discuss

Literally nobody of note spoke of it in that manner, and EHG never once framed their game that way. "X-killer" is a nonsense notion that's been around for decades and been silly for decades.

Bit of an over reaction but OK.

I must have imagined the mega popular video that compared all the difference between the games in a sarcastic tone

Just looked up the video. Dude only has 30k subs but made a video that has 248k views lol. His name is frostylaloo if you're curious so you can just disregard that kind of popularity for one video because he's a nobody

Still cannot get over how they openly stated with no shame that the fan vote is 10%. Delusional.

Which is nothing new and it's always been that way.

But you just learned about it from some out rage bait so you're mad?

You assumed I saw it from some out rage bait (outrage) and assume I am mad?

    Peculiar.

    • ASTRO BOT (Team Asobi/SIE)
    • Balatro (LocalThunk/Playstack)
    • Black Myth: Wukong (Game Science)
    • Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree (FromSoftware/Bandai Namco)
    • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (Square Enix)
    • Metaphor: ReFantazio (Studio Zero/Atlus/Sega)

I'm sure I won't be alone in thinking that it is absolute nonsense for DLC to be considered for game of the year. Even if I was okay with it I wouldn't pick Erdtree. Yeah it's good but not GOTY good.

Personally I'd say either Astro Bot or FF7 Rebirth deserve the win this year.
Isn't the Elden ring one a DLC? how a DLC can win the best game of the year?

I would vote for Wukong, personally, game was something else

That was the most entertaining game to watch other suffer trough, thats for sure.

That was a tongue in cheek comment from when edge tried to gaslight me in the dragon age veil guard thread that there's no difference between a game like baldurs gate 3 and gollum because "games are subjective"

Probably explain why he/she got so salty over my simple comment about last epoch and had to latch onto the d4 killer part even though I had put an "etc" right after on purpose but still guess using a controversial term like that is enough for MMO champ to do it's thing.

Elden Ring getting nominated is completely justified if the length is equal to a full game. It's marketed as a DLC but it is a full game with some reused assets. Rebirth is a sequel with some reused assets from Remake, but it's a full game that has the highest chance of winning, and it also gets my vote.

My Shadow of the Erdtree playtime was around 60 hours, that's longer than most other GOTY nominees.

It's all Miyazaki's fault when he was trolling everyone about the length of the game (it's as big as Limgrave, my ass) and calling it a DLC, when it's basically a full fledged game.

So nobody can criticize anything without being "mad" in your peculiar world view? lmao. It is kind of insane that popular vote only counts for 10% imho, I guess you can call me mad too? lol

That doesn't change the fact that it's DLC. Plain and simple. Do you need the base game "Elden Ring" to play it? Yes.

They should have just made a new category for Best DLC/Expansion.

Getting over something from bemusement, not anger, very strange views you have, 'litterler guy'.

You do realize that it was the fuckwit journos who were shitting on the game, which is based on a Chinese story, for lacking diversity, right? In a Souls game, at that.

So yeah. Its rigged 100%. Doesnt matter who hosts it, if there are judges have same $$$ interests.
Heck it doesnt matter what good game is there.
I think if this was the case then Veilguard would've receive way more nominations.
