Island expeditions, worth it?

I never played much BFA. Are they worth it for transmog? I can see three hats you can get fairly easy. But are there any drops from the islands that are interesting? Or from the salvage chests? Are the chests even worth it?

I don't know about the rewards, never cared about that, but I would recommend doing it for the experience. The island expeditions were my favorite content in BFA. The War of Thorns prepatch questline hyped me up for a war expac, but then BFA launched and the actual questing content wasn't more War of Thorns, but instead running around the two new islands doing chores sidequests for the locals. The questlines were pretty mediocre and I wound up abandoning them and spamming island expeditions to reach level 120. They were more entertaining than speedrunning the same scripted corridor dungeons over and over. You get to run around a zone with the threat of the enemy team in the back of your mind, and the NPC team was a little bit more sophisticated than typical mobs. And then there was the PvP mode. Only caveat is that it may be difficult to experience island expeditions the way I did at BFA's launch. I am not sure if you get level capped down to level 50, and ofcourae your gear would make you way more powerful, the enemies less threatening and the game mode less challenging. PvP queues are probably dead.

there is dubloon (currency from islands) vendor near the expedition "captain" in harbor who should sell most of items that can drop from islands, rest is purchaseable from auction, i think all weapons have "plundered" in their name, armor you have to look up

I mean depends...I've done a bit of the solo grind on islands and well

1. Depending on your class it IS fast
2. But no matter what its VERY repetitive
3. Adding in the fact you only get certain islands and you killing stuff legit doesn't even matter its just you get stuff or you dont.

there is 1 billion transmog and mount and mini pet in this exp, i find it easier to farm current-exp items than old exp ones

Also you can’t queue for a specific island

IEs sucked ass at launch, when the "drops" were determined by the things you killed (meaning completing any objective other than killing would significantly reduce chances of getting loot).

Nowadays, loot is only determined by the enemies present on the island, and the method used to cap Azerite has no influence on loot at the end.

@OP Nowadays, I would suggest farming IEs on an Unholy DK specced into Rider of the Apocalypse. Just run around on your mount and tag everything in sight with Outbreak, prioritizing rares and elites.

Targeting specific loot is practically hopeless. Just farm it for coins and buy chests if ATT says it contains cosmetics you want.

Chests have a pretty decent drop rate for mounts from my experience, with 4/6 chests opened dropping mounts. But that's obviously anecdotal and ymmv.
