World? US being fucking itself over doesnt mean the rest of us do.
World? US being fucking itself over doesnt mean the rest of us do.

Most of the attention is on the US, but as someone who's been living and traveling in Europe for a few decades now I have to say you guys need to stop neglecting your own back yards. There's not much currently that's as "flashy" as what's happening in the States, but boy are all of the ingredients there, simmering quietly.
As an example, people are celebrating D66's win in the Netherlands this past election but kind of ignoring that the overall picture still shows both a drift to the right and a pretty stark split between left and right.
I live in the US, and it's almost like a once-interesting experiment gone horribly wrong at this point, like a failed experiment of some kind. I've been to other European, Asian, and Latin American countries, even visited somewhere in Africa for a few months during college, and none of their societies/governments are as deeply divided and fractured to this extent as we are.
I honestly struggle to comprehend how any American can still manage to muster any shred of patriotism or pride in these days.
America was (I think) supposed to raise the rest of the world up, now it seems more often than not to be pulling others down with it. Like, self-destructing and dragging everyone else too. I don't want it to be this way, but I see no easy way to fix any of its current problems without tearing half the country asunder.
"The beauty of America was that it insisted that there are whole realms of human life located outside the province of politics, like friendships, art, music, family and love. And those are the most important parts of life. And anyone that says otherwise is forgetting what it means to be American and really a human being. Being a founder means resisting nihilism. [It]...doesn’t mean killing what you hate, it means saving what you love."
How long is too long for something to be called an experiment? Over 200 years feels like it is past the duration.

Your name will carry on through generations, and will never be forgotten.

Ignoring does not work. It will creep into your mind/space eventually.
Its better to accept that many people are (insert bad word). And do you best to yourself and others.
You can not change (left vs right, blue vs red) people. Think Neil degrass tyson once said it best: You can't use reason to convince anyone out of an argument that they didn't use reason to get into .
And my own: if people's mind are not even open to other facts/opinions etc. they are not open to discussion or other people.
My best advice would be: Be good to yourself and your friends.
Live your life by your standards. Help people if they want/need help. And be the better person.

nope.
Many countries use the color system. And its also a kind of slang/gamer talk. red vs blue (comes from halo in gamer talk). Or how about Horde (red) vs alliance (blue)....you know the game on witch this forum is build?!?!?!?!
hell in my country (with several sub parties per side) they mix and match the colors and you sometimes get purple type goverments :P.
hell 1 min search even shows your country (denmark) using colors.
So yes, the poster could be talking about America...or many other coutries.

The red flag being associated with the left wing is also old.
French Revolution, 1789-1799 old.
With it being adopted by socialist during the revolutions of 1848. The Labour Party of the UK had a red flag as their party identifier until 1988.
Meanwhile the black flag became firmly the anarchist flag by around 1895~1890.
Before that the red being all kinds of socialism.
Meanwhile blue had been the colour of the UK conservative party since 1834.
So yeah. That poster is uneducated.

sorry if i misunderstood. Sounded like it :S.
True polical wise its mostly correct. There are some exemptions. But most countries its the other way around.
But, did you read the rest of my post? Red vs blue is als for gamers a halo red vs blue (for pvp), and the horde and alliance are also blue vs red.

Nope i am not. there have been other colors. And if you read the whole small post i made. I also used gamer versions of red vs blue.
The old halo red vs blue
Or
alliance vs horde
and lets add a other small thing. most people are not familiar with other countries colors, and politicians. But americans most people know. So its a easy example.
And the whole post from the thread starter does not even talk about left being blue, that was me. The person was talking about contradicting views. Left vs right, blue vs red, up vs down, glass half full vs half empty etc.
about education:
yes countries like austria use blue for right wing and UK 2.
but other example. In argetina both left and right parties use different shades of blue, indonisia other example, japan also. there are many different versions of why people use certain colors for parties. and sometimes they are left or right. Far or more centric.
So ....yes i am poorly educated. Because i gave example's of other countries. Or other media using colors for factions. And i did not give a whole list of every country in the world and what colors mean for them. Maybe do your research instead of "shouting" .
Think the main post talks about stuff like this. Going after people, calling them not educated so the moderators do not see what you are really saying :P . Going full right vs wrong.
