Nice try THD, not falling for it.

I wouldn't mind Blizzard giving something like Corruption a second go though.
Well, shit. I guess I called it:

The content isn't really made for constant dopamine rushes. Even for "quick" stuff like M+, a run is 30mins. In order to get the ARPG experience, every pack should drop something "exciting" and I don't think that would work very well.

ARPG loot is fine in ARPGs. I don't think it works well in WoW which is sort of "seasonal slow burn" instead of 5-10 second mini-dopamine hit cycle.

I think they'll just come as enchantments you apply on gear.

Looks like they're just enchantments for now. Still cool to see things like Twilight Dev returning. I'm thinking that the return of Horrific Visions indicates there may be some greater Corruption mechanic which hasn't been datamined yet so it's anybody guess what the final implementation will look like.

No, but I would probably welcome a diablo style lootfest in a game like BDO, since you spend 99.9% of your time grinding braindead mobs in that game. Exciting, build-enabling loot could make games like that enjoyable. But in wow? I don't think so.

It's just very odd to me how you don't really get gear upgrades that often. Feels like a whole lot of time you get nothing, and when you do get something, your power increases only by a few %. A few upgrades a week and none of them too exciting.

Maybe implementing something more exciting isn't possible in an MMO idk I'm not a developer, I'm sure it's hard.

Absolutely not, the loot system in Diablo is an atrocious RNGfest and actively discouraged me from playing that game.

We had a more Diablo-esque loot in the past, namely Legion/BfA, and y'know what? It sucked massive dick - doing 20+% less damage than your teammates just because you happened to get the wrong legiondary or because your chestpiece didn't roll the right traits was a lot of fun

In Diablo you can afford to have such massive power discrepancies because it is (mostly) a single player game, but when you add multiplayer it is nearly impossible to get it right. In fact, all of the "borrowed power" systems had the same problem - there was only ONE correct choice (maybe two if your class was lucky) and the rest was just subpar.

the artifact weapons was a good upgrade to the gearing system, after dropping that system it felt downgrade going back to having to change weapon every now and then, should have instead made artifact armor or something too
