    Patch 11.1.5 Expected Release Date

    Patch 11.1.5 Expected Release Date
Patch 11.1.5 splash screen has been revealed in the first build on the PTR, suggesting that the content update will go live before the Children's Week world event begins.

Since Children's Week starts on April 28, which is a Monday, it's likely that Patch 11.1.5 will launch at least one week before that. The expected release date is April 22 in North America and April 23 in Europe, since new patches typically go live on Tuesday in North America and Wednesday in Europe.

This also aligns with Blizzard's intent to have content updates happening around every 8 weeks between patches.

Honestly I feel like one of the faults Blizzard has with storytelling within an expansion is that they go all over the place. I feel like they should have had Nightfall and the Arathi storylines as the first content patch after release. The siren isles stuff could have been baked in. Also the Goblin stuff could have been added someplace alongside relevant storyline patches. It's like reading a book you are just getting into then the chapter goes off in some weird tangent and you keep turning pages asking yourself when tf are they going to get back to the plot?!

Arathi story is not even remotely interesting enough. I only like their armor, but the lore is trash.
The goblin zone has been amazing. I really like it to the point that made me pay the subs to play it.

Well maybe you. Or you could just be a contrarian. Who knows, this is online. But lets just say everyone has an opinion. Goblin stuff isn't terrible. But it's not my cup of tea. The Arathi stuff is pretty cool though. Traditional fantasy stuff that fits in the vein of WoW. Curious about the time they disappeared and now all of a sudden reappeared back in this cavern along an underground sea which is cool in itself as a location. A clever writer with a decent pair of chops could spin a fine yarn with the Arathi and their setting. As it is though the whole Lamplighter thing is a pretty cool take as far as I'm concerned.

It depends what you consider the main storyline. If you think Hallowfall and the Arathi and Renilash are the next story beats after Nerub, then you'd be right. If you think Black Blood and the fate of the Dark Heart is the main story beats after Nerub, then you'd be wrong.

Siren's Isle was little more than just a catch-up island. The story of it has pretty much nothing to do with nothing.

But I can agree that aesthetically Undermine does take a break from everything else we've had so far (which I loved the small break, but I can understand the oddity), but I'd say story-wise it was way more important than Arathi's storyline at this current moment.

By the end of 11.0, we had Queen Ansurek dead, an Ethereal Princess fleeing to meet with her crew, Black Blood bubbling up, and a broken Dark Heart out in the world that Xal'atath was needing to get fixed. Knowing that Goblins had created the Dark Heart, I think it makes sense that the next story beats involved trying to stop Xal'atath from trying to get it fixed. This would lead us to Undermines, not to Arathi. The conflict involving Arathi, nerubians, and Beledar are absolutely important, but the chase of the Dark Heart is seemingly the most important thing. That leads us to Goblins. And now that Ethereals have it, we have nothing to chase .. until after they make their move. Arathi/Beledar are, despite everything, the side story at the moment. They're the tangent. Not the Goblins.

Oh I know. Just seems like the writers / developers at Blizzard have a habit of telling abstract stories. Like TBC. Illidan was the poster boy for that expansion and though we heard rumor of him and seemingly followed in his wake while going through the content, we didn't actually ever encounter him directly till the last raid of the expansion. If you weren't raiding then you wouldn't even know he was a part of the storyline.

Using another game as an example that often gets thrown up in arguments about Blizz and their storytelling is FFXIV. People often criticized the story in that game in earlier parts during ARR up to the first expansion Heavensward. As the story progressed it became much better with a tighter focus. Still early on they had a problem with keeping a focus on the plot. Up till the end of Endwalker people, including myself really liked the storyline. That being said it was a bit much to expect in another MMORPG like WoW. Even still I feel like a middle ground could be reached. Playing the game just to kill things in fun ways only goes so far. Same with reading / listening to a lot of exposition/story beats.

To me this is one of the problems with Theme park MMO's. Once you find a theme you like then it's over with. A theme park irl is meant to have a very brief experience with. You do the rides, enjoy the shows/events and then move on. An MMORPG is meant for much longer engagement. This is why I feel like keeping a more central theme and accompanying storyline in each expansion really helps to make a longer lasting piece of content to interact with. It's okay to have different side-stories too though.
