Neat concept and would probably fit well to the whimsical side of WoW-thematics. Since there's a constant lack of tanks and healers - why not, maybe someone would think it's fun and pick it up. But I don't really believe we need another leather based melee dps... which it would inevitably end up as.

Yeah, it fitting Warcraft is primarily why I believe that if Blizzard does a Bard class, it'll look something like this. I remember the excellent (D&D style) Bard thread created by Amunrasonther a few years ago that was generally praised, but the main thing said about it was that it didn't fit Warcraft. This concept solves that problem and other major foundational problems with the Bard in Warcraft. It also sort of helps that Blizzard has really expanded this concept throughout the Warcraft franchise over the last few years.

The armor is a problem though. I think these guys being cloth or mail wearers is a possibility, but yeah you almost have to give them leather, and as you said, another melee leather DPS is overkill.

Maybe mail? There's only 2 melee mail specs out of 9 total, and people want a mail tank.

    Mail armor?

Yeah, I think there's some more space with mail wearers so this would be much better choice, imho

I rly don't mind the bard class, but the image you put here, made me vehemently not want then in the game

    No, no and no.
A Bard class should not be a Rock N' Roller. It should be a medieval minstrel.

You also forgot other instruments, like the flute, the harp and the drum, and focused solely on the guitar.

The reason your concept threads are so off-putting is exactly because of that. You take inspiration and images from childish and comical representations of an archetype, bordering on being jokes almost, instead of epic or fantastic depictions of them that would pique the interest of an audience that is older than 5.

I'm all for a Bard class. It is a core aspect of every fantasy RPG. I, myself, had trouble trying to come up with one, as i don't see it capable of doing DPS (as the typical bardish depiction, not the out of place Rock N' Roller). I imagine it as a supporter and healer, and i wonder if Blizzard would manage to add a DPS-less class.

I don't know what it is with you and cute or cartoonish depictions, but i would suggest you take it more seriously, for the sake of all of us. It is annoying, because you do have talent when it comes to comprising a concept. I just wish it would be more mature.

Teriz’s second Bard concept thread on the subject of ETC…
Wonder how long until he makes a third.

That is because his goal is to discredit the concept in the eyes of others. He doesn't want a bard class. He is, for all intents and purpose, quite anti-bard, considering he rejects all the actual bards within World of Warcraft's lore and game and focuses solely on non-bards for his concept.

What he is doing is akin to constructing the Warrior class by simply looking at blacksmiths and weapon vendors.

I don't know if it's of ill-intent. Most of his threads are like this. Though, i guess he puts more effort into those he likes.

    Accurate.
He’s even said several times he detests the idea of ETC/metal Bards & that it doesn’t fit into wow/is a terrible concept.

Since I am tired of seeing this class concept being brought up constantly in multiple threads, let's end the discussion here; The ONLY viable Bard concept in WoW currently is the Elite Tauren Chieftain. He is the only Bardic character in WoW that has the majority of criteria that the other 4 WoW expansion concepts possessed, and he has enough presence in the lore to be considered a part of it.

However, the major problem with this concept (IMO) is that it simply doesn't fit WoW, and would be completely derided as a terrible class concept.

What do you think? Do you share my view that this class concept would be a terrible class idea, or do you think an ETC class has potential? Let me know in the poll above.

TBF, that post predates the Festival of Legends expansion.

Just to show you how much Blizzard enhanced the thematic, almost all the art in this thread comes from that expansion.

    Bards are gay. Sorry.

In every piece of story, they are always sidekicks and comic reliefs. There is nothing badass about them, they are not meant to be badass, they're entertainers after all, not warriors and sorcerers.

They have the same issue that Monks have. I mean fucking old Chinese kung-fu movies?! That's the fantasy of the class? Ok... I mean sure, there are some people who like that but overall, people don't think that Monks are cool, and that's why Monk is the least played class in the game.

Also Blizzard quickly learned from the Augmentation fiasco that support specs just don't work in WoW. They are either too good and become mandatory for every group, or too weak and then they're a wasted slot like Augmentation is right now. Hell, I'm surprised Blizzard didn't already say "We'd rather you didn't play Augmentation".

So no, Bards are just not gonna happen as a playable class.

I actually really like the idea of an ETC heavy metal bard. Is that the only possibility for bards? No, but it's still cool and if this was the direction they decided to go, I'd be all for it.

I play Baldur's Gate 3 as a bard and I've talked dozens of people into killing themselves. There is nothing more badass than that.

Uh the concept of a Bard is inherently ridiculous and cartoonish, which is why Blizzard likely went this route. The idea that a Bard is a dark, edgy brooding concept like Demon Hunters or Death Knights is laughable. We're talking about an Orc or a Worgen playing flutes and harps.

Honestly I get the appeal, I've played bards in tabletop and CRPGs a lot. I don't get this version of bard though. Why heavy metal?
But I think there are so many classes that are a far greater priority to fill in archetypes that are important to Warcraft than the bard.

So it's not based in World of Warcraft at all.

Since none of the characters you used in your idea exist in WoW or are even bards to begin with.

Because the OP finds the concept of bard ridicule and wants to discredit it.

    Speak for yourself.

    I think it's badass.

Never said it was dark and brooding. Concepts can be breathtaking and intriguing, too. Look at Lorewalker Cho. He isn't a buffed warrior, but he's a delight to listen to. You take something that might be lighthearted and you cartoonify it to the max. Look at my comment above. Unlike that guy, i don't think Pandaren Monks are a joke.

I believe this mindset is exactly why Blizzard would go with a more tongue-in cheek and whimsical interpretation of the Bard concept. Like I said, it’s an inherently goofy concept.

Uh Hearthstone IS based on World of Warcraft, and a couple of the characters from Festival of Legends are in WoW.

While I enjoy the character of Lorewalker Cho, good luck building a class around him.
