It's a very true and very real question. Why would they need help from Humans, that are so much younger than they are. Why would the Humans be able to do anything they can't do. Logically there's no reason why they would.

No it's cause that's how they were written at the start. Faction balance for in game mechanics really isn't an answer for any of this. And also, I'd think the Night Elves would have more knowledge of Kalimdor than the Humans would.

Dude, race being older or younger doesn't mean shit, what matter is numbers and militar power. Something the rest the alliance, including humans have.

Night elves lost much of their power and militar power in warcraft 3 fighting the legion and the scourge, they are not nearly as powerful as they were ten thousand years ago.

Now try to spin why they "having more knowledge" MEANS, here, tell me why they being older will make then suddenly face an army 100x more populous than then.

Neither did the Humans, they had medieval grade establishments and armies, it only looks like they didn't cause of the massive update Stormwind and no other cities got in Cataclysm. The Night Elves had military power, look at them in Classic, try playing classic and see how it looks compared to now.

Well I mean they were their own faction in wc3 rivalling the Alliance and Horde, and they populate most of Northern Kalimdor and more, that's quite a big chunk of land. They also have allies like Dryads, Furbolg Ancients etc, possibly could have allied with Draenei as well, Worgen. So I don't see why not. Worth noting that they were in the process of allying with the Blackpaw Furbolg in Azshara, but the Horde player in an arcane Night Elf disguise sabotaged it.

Orcs had magic fell booze that made them super strong and super angry, Orcs even without that liked conquering shit, Gul'dan was listening to Space Satan to further their plans cause they promised more power. Other Orcs were like "Oh neat we get to Raze and Pillage!" and Raze and Pillage they did. Hell Orcs in general are like Vikings where dying in battle is the greatest fucking honor they could have. Orcs took down the mother of all dragons and forced her to make mounts for them, Orcs figured out how to raise the humans paladins into super weapons, Orcs have no idea what the fuck a night elf is outside of "oh look tree people lets go burn them the fuck down" Tree people who have stories of a green dude who wounded Space Satan and these orcs look a LOT like that green dude who injured Space Satan.
