Gonna try and assume you're not actually playing a parody character and just ask... what were the "right" roles that black characters were in "back in the old days of games"?

Do you really think people like this ever actually go outside and interact with people? Several of them come across as if all they do is watch right wing outrage slop on YT all day.
This thread is one nose hair away from flat out talking about the great white replacement theory lmao
I notice how people on BOTH sides bring attention to that. Either its "her personality in the game does no service to her powerful, imposing design in the artwork/cinematic, no good" or "her ugly and tryhard artwork/cinematic design does no service to her otherwise nice/tolerable/pleasant personality in the game, no good". I'm more on the latter, although I wouldn't go as far as "ugly and tryhard", changing the hairstyle would be enough.
Example:
Borderlands 2 - Sir Hammerlock: A character with his unique personality, rank between the vault hunters and also an explorer/hunter. This character is not a "token" of "hey, i'm just here because i'm back!".
Diablo 2 LOD - Paladin: The Paladin is a playable character, he is from the western kingdoms.
Starcraft 1 - Samir Duran: a ghost hero unit with an important role in the story.
These are black characters with their unique personality, story and as well, they are not there just to fullfil an agenda of race diversity like Faerin (trying to be a half-elf, handycap knight with childish voice acting and as a token character).
So, Faerin has nothing unique about her, and has no importance to the story? Interesting.
This is one of those "revealed preferences" that should be super obvious to anyone because it is basic common sense, but for whatever reason it has become cool to deny it and mock anyone who talks about it. I think that's just part of the modern online/social world where everything is a performance. You need to have one stated preference in public (I love conventionally ugly characters! I'm a good person!) while secretly spending $500 a month on skinny hot cosplay girls on onlyfans (your actual revealed preference).
As someone who writes and edits romance books under multiple pen names (some for men, some for women) I always laugh at these conversations. The covers for female targeted books are even more sexy and "offensive" than ones for men most of the time lmao, to say nothing of the content matter! I kid you not, Amazon marketing will let you sell ads for a female-targeted book where the female MC is chain gangbanged by werewolves, but you try to make an ad for a book where a guy has a harem of hot ladies, it will get flagged and blocked.
Anyway, Faerin has barely done anything so I don't really have an opinion on her at all. I like Alleria a lot, but her husband is really getting the shaft with screentime. I think it's a bad choice but I personally don't mind it cuz I'm really sick of Travis's voice in every game lol

Yep. Just watch anime more popular with women like Apothecary Diaries and everyone is more beautiful and sexual. It's plain as day but you can't talk about it with common sense because of the performative nature online discourse. An example being, male-gaze is now the cool thing to demonize. This isn't saying female-gaze isn't equally important and wasn't depicted as much historically, but people pretend not to see the attractiveness of female-gaze characters while lasering in on anything male-gaze. That said, I just want good character design. Attractiveness is one of the laziest ways to do it, as is Faerin, which was designed by a committee to check literally every box. Give me a non-traditionally attractive, but well-designed character any day. The best fur suits are NOT the attractive ones. But anything inauthentic is also poor design. Faerin wielding a more WoW-fitting weapon, having a voice over that matched her haggardness, having consistent design, and not being as prominent (e.g. don't make her carry the story for the Horde as well) would make her awesome.

Says the people with an order of magnitude more posts. I'd be laughing but you two are so blind to the hypocrisy it scares me a little.

Started in closed beta, probably before your class was even in the game.
Ya it was bad. More women are real leaders and men are weak non sense we've been seeing for a while now
Who woulda guessed
Apparently we're just stuck with the same garbage writers forever and story is not a thing worth getting invested in anymore at all
