    Fashion Templates

So it seems we haven't lost functionality with the fashion templates and all, at least after the update where changing dyes stops charging transmutes lol.

But holy crap this is such a convoluted mess of a poorly designed and communicated system that's apparently only half complete. Wardrobe needs a lot of work, anets trademark "ultra-dogshit UI/UX design" coming out in full force

Edit: Ok, so functionally (at least after their initial update) won't be lost. It's just one of the most poorly designed/implemented systems in the game and it made doing anything you used to be able to do like change cosmetic pieces/dyes take more clicks/time for no reason.

if you want to get into dragonstorm public instances you need to queue as your own squad...you can't just join like normal.

this update seems like it's being tested in production lmao

I haven't had an issue with the fashion templates. IDK what people are doing. Some people just clicked through stuff too fast and thought they lost their look/whatever. Others seem like they are actually struggling with it. On the other hand, QP play raids have been an experience. Definitly something they are going to have to work on. A better way to incentivize experienced players to join the random environment of quickplay to help people new to fights learn or something a little more to keep new people from quitting. I've did some fights I thought were easy before in the new QP system and found out theres new ways for groups to fail encounters...They don't just want players to just queue for a fight and win, which I agree with, but a couple of the fights in the QP playlist might be punishing for new groups that can't guarentee they don't have an experienced player in the group to easy the burden.

lmao needing a huge help page post explaining how the new system works is probably not a ringing endorsement of the UX of the new system

When we implement a new feature like Fashion Templates, your insights are incredibly valuable, and we appreciate you taking the time to share them with us. We know players have wanted a fashion-template feature for a long time and, as players ourselves, we were excited to finally make it happen. It's clear there are improvements we can make to ensure Fashion Templated become a convenient and integral part of customizing your characters.

So, based on your feedback, we're going to make several adjustments to Fashion Templates—including adding a new tab displaying your character's currently equipped fashion. This was the most frequent piece of feedback we received from you and will address many of the granular user-experience issues that have been surfaced. This is a complex change and isn't simply taking what we had before and moving it around. We need to build that feature into Fashion Templates from the ground up, and this will take time. The good news is that there are some things we can do in the shorter term.

Here are the Fashion Template improvements that we're working on (and some that have already been released):

    Live Now

    • Changing skins in Fashion Templates no longer requires a Transmutation Charge if the new skin matches the currently equipped skin.

    • The first-time-experience popup for Fashion Templates now reflects the new behavior of the Get Equipped Fashion option.

    Before March

    • The Fashion Templates column will be removed from the context menu above the weapon swap button. We want to help prevent accidental overwrites of current Fashion Templates, and this is the fastest way to do that. You'll still be able to set hotkeys to quickly swap between templates, and we will be looking into ways to bring this menu back at a later date.
    • The Get Equipped Fashion button will be accessible with fewer clicks. This feature is frequently used but is hidden within a right-click context menu. We are going to surface it and make it easier to use.
    • Dye validation will be adjusted to reduce "invalid dye selected" warnings. This can occur when an applied skin has fewer dye channels than the previously used skin.
    • A Get Equipped Fashion option will be added to the right-click menu of individual cosmetic slots. This will make it even easier to make changes to a single piece of equipment.

    Mid-March to Mid-April

    • The outfit visibility toggle will be set to Off by default in Fashion Templates. Currently, enabling and disabling outfits requires too many clicks, and outfits could appear when not intended. Similar issues will be addressed further when the Current tab improvement is implemented.
    • The feature tutorial pop-up will be altered to be more concise and helpful.

With the Next Quarterly Update in May

    • A Current tab (also referred to as Tab 0 in some feedback) will be implemented into the Wardrobe feature so players can easily view and edit their current fashion independent of any Fashion Templates. This addresses various user-experience concerns all at once rather than approaching each of them individually.

In May, we'll also be adding mounts, gliders, and conjured doorways to Fashion Templates, as we've discussed previously. It's also important to note that details and timelines may shift as we progress through the work.

Overall, we believe these changes will significantly improve the functionality of Fashion Templates and make the whole ex
update from anet on fashion template nonsense, they shared earlier than they initially said which is nice

cool, so we wait 3 more months to hopefully get the full functionality/return of the previous functionality.

really wish anet weren't so aggressively hostile towards testing. even when their resources weren't focused on "uannounced project" they never had the best designs and their UI decisions were bad, and they really need to get some outside perspective before investing tons of time into an unpopular new system

They should have done a better test before. It's weird that they didn't. I did not have an issue with the templates and it's clear it was too easy for people to accidentally click the wrong thing and lose their look. It also didn't support people who bought multiple equipment slots, the system kind of relied on you purchasing a fashion template for every equipment slot you own.

Its the problem with designing the system, you already know how it works and can't predict how fresh eyes will react. Players immediately realized the need for a 0 slot, something that would have been allievated on a beta. Oh well.

    New raid boss is fun.
