ELECTION 2023! Early Referendum on MAGA Shutdown?

It's Election Night 2023! There's a few really important gubernational elections that happen in this off-year.
Voting is the most obvious to affect change.
2017 an important indicator when the Dems flipped Virgina for the 2018 mid-terms?
2021 an important indicator when the GOP won back parts of Virginia?

New Jersey Govenor: Replacing incumbent Murphy
Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill is facing Republican Jack Ciattarelli, a former state legislator.

    Virginia Govenor: Replacing incumbent Youngkin
Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger has consistently led her Republican opponent, Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears

Virginia Attorney General: This one is important since the future AG will have to certify any redrawing of congressional districts.
    Jason Miyares, Republican incumbent
    Jay Jones, Democratic challenger

    CA Prop 50
Also known as the Election Rigging Response Act. Is a constitutional amendment that Authorizes Temporary Changes to Congressional District Maps in Response to Texas' Partisan Redistricting. Temporarily requires new congressional district maps, as passed by the Legislature in August 2025, to be used in California's congressional elections through 2030

    NYC Mayor
I guess its important to pundits that live in NYC. Also their their fans that live vicariously through them.

Other cities Mayor, sorry pundits dont think you're as cool as NYC.

The city does have a population higher than that of like 38 states, sooo...

My most important election is the Georgia PSC, not listed in poll.

Sooo... What? The size of the city is somewhat irrelevant because a mayor - any mayor - is going to have minimal impact on national policy. If Mamdani is elected (and I both expect and hope he will be), it will be good for New York, and possibly a symbolic victory for progressives, but that's really about it.

If a mayor of such a huge city begins to implement unorthodox policies, states will take notice. Some to see if they work, some to damn them anyway.

And then if some of those policies also work at state level, they will have an impact on national policies as well.

And while New York isn't indicative of the entire country, being such an incredibly diverse cultural melting pot reflects -somewhat- the attitudes of the American voting public. Like yeah he's gonna be a mayor of a single city, limited in federal and national scope by that alone, but the way his campaign energy and messaging have reached far beyond -just- new york should be something worth looking at; and flippantly dismissing those accomplishments is willfully disingenuous. Like there's a reason so many people outside the state are invested in this race, and it's not only just because Republicans and/or Israeli interests are big mad that a Muslim man might have any kind of power.

Lol the nitwits trying to nationalize Mamdani will be disapointed.
Moreso for Cuomo/Trump obviously getting egg on their faces. Less so for the DSA Comittee for Revolution in Kentucky.

Though more onto the general topic; Early Polling from most of these elections seems to favor Democrats in general, but it's still too early to call and/or get any hopes up.

If Republicans fail to win most of these that's already a black eye to the admin in a general sense, failing to win -any- of these elections would just be hilarious.

I mean, dude's already unintentionally turned himself into a national celebrity through force of personality and the vitriol of his opposition. His influence might fade in the coming years as he actually has to focus on Mayoring and he's not longer a fun 'radical socialist mayor??' sideshow for the news cycle to focus on; but if Trump decides he wants to pick a fight with NYC because of the audacity to vote in a guy he doesn't like, then we're probably stuck with Mamdani and his messaging being in the news for a while longer.

Weird how all the usual suspects of GOP media disinformation (Axios, Politico, etc) are coordinating to push a "DEM CAVE IMMINENT" narrative on the exact day Dems are about to score what looks like a pretty dramatic set of election wins. Almost like they want to blunt the impact of any good news!

    Why would Axios do this?

CNN's Election Night Live Stream Cast is the most cursed lineup not named the NY Jets....

CNN’s Election Night Goes Digital: A Streaming-Only Live Cast with Charlamagne tha God, Ben Shapiro, and Harry Enten Aims to Redefine Political Coverage
The two-hour live cast (8:30–10:30 PM ET) won’t resemble the traditional Wolf Blitzer–style coverage. Instead, host Harry Enten will moderate a free-flowing conversation among Charlamagne tha God, Ben Shapiro, Kara Swisher, and other guests from across the political and cultural spectrum.

Not even 45 minutes into election night and the Democrats have already won two statewide elections in Georgia.

    Is this a wave?

Gonna be a worse night for MMO-C Trump Fans or No-Elections-Ever-Again Doomposters?

Guys, please keep this stuff posted on here so I can check the results later. This tends to be the most reliable place for much of this info so long as you avoid the peanut gallery.
