Housing 101: Getting Started

Buying your plot is free, moving your house is free, there are about 2300 decor items obtainable through vendors, achievements, and crafting.

So far there are only 19 decor items created for the cash shop: two plushies, some cherry blossom themed objects, and some garden gnome themed objects.

Right... and you are naïve enough to think its going to stop there? We all told you this when they started selling the sparkle pony, you've been around here 15 years right... you cant possibly be this stupid. We warned you with the pony it was a slippery slop Blizzard wouldn't stop... "oh but they wont sell pets"... "oh but they wouldn't sell appearances".... "this is just a 1 off thing guys, don't worry"..... "surely they wont sell level boosts".... "oh but they definitely wouldn't sell gold"...At this point in retail they might as well just sell raid gear in the cash shop and cut out the middle man.....

In an expansion in which one of the MAIN FEATURES they expect you to fork over even MORE money besides the expansion price and monthly sub for the SOLE PURPOSE of being able to have everything in said core feature is fucking insane.... now.. you wanna be the Whale Within? That's fine, that's your money, you earned it (I assume) you spend it however you see fit. But a constantly growing number of players are ditching retail, or Blizzard altogether over this nonsense,

The mounts/pets/xmogs were bad enough, but this is now core features of an expansion that are being exploited for microtransactions.... what's next expansion? paying per raid? 15.99 to unlock the epic versions of dungeons?

did people forget how useless/bad garrions in wod were? its same shit literally, as bad and useless. play GTA ONLINE if u want to have proper "housing" experience, not this marketing crap

uh... what? I mean, yes they were generic and bland as hell.... but useless?? A lot of us made millions in gold with alts and then raid logging.....

I visit my garrisons daily. They're still a source of income.

This. It's worth stopping by every few days to see if certain items are up on the mission table, as they still sell pretty well for zero work.

For people who had dozens of garrisons pumping out gold back during WoD, it's worth keeping that rotation going. The raw gold from selling produced mats adds up pretty quickly across several instances, especially for what amounts to an hour a day just logging into toons you never use.

Is there any reason to use the housing system at all? The garrison could generate income — can housing do that as well?

For those wondering what the point even is of housing, when it doesn't do anything, and it's just pretty to look at, and it's better to spend time to actually doing stuff in game, like raids or M+ or PvP.
Housing is not so much for looking at, but for DOING.

yeah i remember that how morons claimed we will have to buy everything, how it will be power on shop and how soon we will have to buy tickets to enter raid and so on...
15 years later, still just cosmetics on shop (with still literaly hundreds times more available ingame), like we told the morons back then...

meanwhile we got option to buy everythin on shop, including game and sub for INGAME currency, and sub remained the same price...

I dont want to buy it, when I made it already. I just want it ez on alts and dont have to redo everything. I think something can be said about both.

Appearntly its in, in some form, but not what we want. These a great ideas in general.

In the beta when i was messing around when it came out, I was able to stack two rooms on top of each other and it made a room with a taller ceiling

Does anyone know how we get bigger ceilings?

Or are we just stuck in cramped ceiling houses now?

? Are you sure? You could always use stairway room that has no staircase and extends across two floors and you can set the ceilings of most rooms to vaulted.

And it is amazing how much the Warcraft camera distorts our understanding of height; the standard Warcraft Housing room is at least 15 feet tall while the tallest standard for residentials in our world is about 10 feet.

I really hope that all these housing decorations are not just for looks. For housing to actually be useful we need decorations that actually do things like crafting tables, buffs, or be interactive.

You can get a cooking fire that you can make things from your cooking profession. You can get a forge that allow for smelting in your mining profession.
