These new engine regulations are ridiculous. Having to lift and coast at the end of a straight is so anti racing.

Have you ever seen a Formula E race? They do it all the time there, mainly because they don't want to be the ones leading and cutting through the air for everyone else. It wouldn't surprise me if that starts to happen in F1 the more the cars become more reliant on electrical energy rather than fuel.

Russells pole position qualifying run was nearly 3.5 seconds slow than last years pole position on the same track. It is over one second slower than Ocon's last place qualifying run last year too.... That's really all you need to know. This does not shape up to be exactly riveting racing.

Makes no difference, really. They're all going at those sorts of speeds, so it'll work the exact same way as any other race, they just won't be hitting the speeds they used to. You'll still get overtakes etc.

Half the people that post here, IIRC, pretty much say every race is boring anyway lol So even that won't change.

Don't they also change cars mid race?
Also not wanting to lead is extremely boring. Sure, it's also not fun if one driver just drives 20 seconds ahead for every race, but if the cars just try to save energy all the time, then better cut the "race" in half and let them drive a full power.
Because then it becomes an actual race.

Wake me up around the same time next year or when they change the rules.
Horrible, will not be watching this season. Fucking Formula E videogame mickey mouse rules.

People defending this crap probably only follow F1 through social media.

I will only watch the first race to get a gist for the rest of the year, I am betting on carnage and at least 3 red flags.

Not that it matter. For some reason they dont have the same performance with hard tyres. Even with a 14 laps newer tyres leclerc wasnt reducing the gap to antonelli

The pace difference. We have F1, F2, F3 and F4 all in the same grid.

    No murders, but six deaths.

Kill me now with Ferrari strats man. Maybe Merc did look like they had it but its a whole diff game when cars are fighting.

On the bright side, Lewis looks absolutely comfortable. Just need to tighten up quali, but both of them had power issues soo who knows.

Truth is Ferrari never had a chance, that fight at the start was cool, but the pace merc had with those old tyres, just unreal...

Congrats to the Mercs. They had a solid combination of speed, luck, and Ferrari.

Looks like it might be a long season for me and McLaren. It was nice while it lasted. Hope they can make some gains.

Just seen a replay of Colapinto's start. Wow how on earth he didn't crash into Lawson or the wall is a mystery!

I think you're wrong. The gap at the end was what was lost as a result of not pitting in VSC. If it had not been for VSC they would have been up there, even if they didn't/couldn't pass, and a full Safety Car would have told a different story.

Next week is a sprint weekend, so Saturday's race will show what will happen without Ferrari doing Ferrari and Ferrari'ing the strategy.

Ferrari had fresher tyres and they never got close. Once you are at the front you control the race.
