Should Rogue have a ranged spec?

With Legion Remix, for the first time i played a (Tauren) Rogue, and after playing the campaing and unlocking title+mount, it is a good and fun class to play.
But i don't see many reasons for Assassination and Subtlety to coexist together. I get, assassination is focused in venons and Subtlety is more about stealth and all ( even if that don't really work, is more about shadow dance and dealing shadow damage)

But there is one thing that kept me thinking, for the main rogue players, should we have a ranged spec?

i REALLY think an SCOUT spec would fit perfeclty in the Rougue class, as assassination and outlaw is already solid, it could be in place of Subtlety, dealing some shadow based shots dealing with long range venon attacks and using ranged weapons. or they could even bring back trhowing weapons from classic and make them long range knife throwing spec.

does it make sense? or a scout spec? looking at D4 for exemple the theme would get along really well with WoW Rougue and even give a new ranged spec.

Always thought so too, either as a fourth spec or as an alternative to Subtlety. Maybe it's because my RPG understanding comes from D&D and Rogues are as likely to be archers as melee skirmishers in D&D but archery from stealth just makes sense and is a classic archetype (well beyond a fantasy archetype but really, guerilla combat). Plus it just seems weird that ranged physical combat is restricted to a single class.

    Yeah...but not quite.

    Stealth > camouflage.

Sorry. Camouflage is a joke. To even begin to stop being a joke, it needs to have its cd run from the moment it's activated, not from the moment it expires, as it used to be before Blizzard nerfed it. It would be perfect if it was downright stealth on a 10 sec cd.

Yes I would like to see that happen.

they could literally make they use ranged weapons or make they trhow their knives for the sake of saving legion legendaries.
but using bows and guns would be better IMO.

that what i was thinking about while playing rougue the entire time (or they will use this archetype for a future bard class :v but i don't think so)

plus, a new class dealing physical ranged damage.

I think it could make sense. Didn't we even have / still have "Pistol shot"? Rogue as Pirate..why not?

sub as a throwing weapon spec would be my ideal physical ranged spec, which would allow them to keep using agi daggers too

It would be cool, though I wonder if it would effectively kill off rogue melee slots in organized content (barring one of them being super overtuned)

The game needs another bow spec since there are only 2 in the game and only 1 that feels like it. Pretty funny considering bows were the dominant weapon in human history for thousands of years

No. I like having three melee DPS specs and see no reason to ruin that like they did with survival. The only thing I wish they would do is let outlaw use daggers. It never made sense to me for outlaw to require different weapons despite still being a stealthy melee DPS like the others. Just an unnecessary burden.

I want Outlaw to be a parry/dodge tank spec, and either Sub or Assassin to be a ranged spec. Assassin I think is more polished and should be left alone. So I'd go with sub being ranged.

    No.
