    [SPECULATION] Reclaiming Undercity

Based on the vibe and trajectory of Midnight's plot and the story progress to its climax, Zul'aman and Silvermoon City will have a phased version of the map as the influence of shadow & darkness finally usurps the Sunwell and creeps into the Plaguelands so the Aliance and Horde will be forced to retreat back to Gilneas and decide to reclaim the Undercity.

Majority of Lorderon will probably have a revamp as new patches unfold and it would really be interesting once the denizens of Shadowlands finally step a foot in Azeroth as they try to lend their hand/forces as Sylvanas finally completes her penance in the Maw and rallies aid from Shadowland denizens.

    Thoughts?

The very first build of Midnight had a string of data in the "Delves" section that said "Die in Lordaeron or Undercity". It may have been data for a future patch that was included by mistake.

Also the loading screen for Midnight includes Lordaeron, in fact it shows it moreso than Quel'thalas.

Hmmmm....Alliance players will hate it, if Horde gets another spotlight and a city back. (In the light that they can only step foot into a small part of Silvermoon) Unless of course, Undercity will be reclaimed for the Alliance. Or maybe they get their spotlight in reclaiming Gilneas and / or something about Teldrassil.

I can see Lordaeron's Capital City being opened up/neutral and Undercity below being Horde-only.

This might actually be one of the least psychotic vertigo12 threads I have seen in years, I'm impressed.

Gilneas is already reclaimed and Teldrassil was already replaced.

I think we could see Lordaeron as a patch zone this expansion, but not for any of the plot beats you’ve noted.

I fear I am not keeping up with stuff. Gilneas reclaimed...is that some quest for heritage armour? (I vaguely remember that I have a quest like that on an alt that I keep wanting to finish) And has the city changed to be now a proper Worgen capital?

What si Teldrassil replaced by as a functioning NE capital? Again apologies for not keeing up, as I have no NE character.

It was a questline for everyone that was implemented in 10.2.5.

As for Tedrassil, Bel'ameth which was founded on Amirdrassil in the Emerald Dream patch (again 10.2.5)

I actually feel like this might possibly be a thing, or should I say COULD possibly be a thing. Given Undercity's unique design being mostly below-ground. IF Lorderon was somehow rejuvenated then maybe some sort of split like this could be a reality.

I think we will see the new draenei city before long, the one that was teased in their heritage armor quest.

Just add a hut or two to Amirdrassil and call it a day.

Honestly though, evolve that place into a real night elf city and give us Draenei capital (and houses, pretty please?) and I‘m happy if the Horde gets the next 5 expansions.

Evolving that place won't be enough, they need to have stuff going on in Ashenvale as well.

Tbh the Draenei were talking about expanding on Forest Song ages ago, they should do something with that. They should update the entire zone of Ashenvale like they did with the Arathi Highlands and Darkshore. While they're at it they should add a portal in the druids Emerald Dreamway that goes to the portal there.

Thanks...yes, now that you mention it, I remember those quests...just checked on my long abandoned Alliance alt, there is actually even a portal to Bel'ameth. I seem to have missed the portal to Gilneas.

There is a boat that goes from Bel'ameth to Gilneas.

We haven't seen the climax of the Midnight story, so it's kinda weird to build such an utterly specific theory around it. Seems more like wishful thinking.

There are many cliffhangers dangling from different expansion all ending up in tied knot.

    1) BfA's Calia Menethil and Lorderon
    2) Sylvanas Windrunner from Shadowlands
    3) BfA's Visions of N'Zoth with Warlord of Draenor's Siege of Orgrimmar
    4) Tyrande's Night Warrior
    5) Anduin will try to reharness domination magic to supress and wield the power of the void.
    6) Legion's Suramar City and revisiting the Nightwell.
    7) Azshara and working with a mysterious "Harbinger" and an Incarnate, Iridikron, to orchestrate a future event called "the awakening".
    8) Return of Kael'thas Sunstrider, the Venthyr & San'layn
    9) Cataclysm & the Hour of Twilight, Murozond's True Vision DF's Dawn of the Infinite

Undercity was, technically, reclaimed in SL when Calia helped remove the plaque, and later in the Forsaken Heritage quest they have it under control, but only above ground.

But, making Undercity another horde city a full revemap, would be another spitting in the face of the shit the alliance got with Bel'ameth and Gilneas: Nothing. While the horde got a fully realized Undermine, a fresh Silvermoon, maybe even the forest trolls.

"alliance bias" yeah sure, coming from the spoiled horde kids.

Since Lorderon City was an Alliance & Horde territory with the introduction of WoW Vanilla and Undercity, it might be a good place for Sanctuary since Dalaran already retired thanks to Xal'atath.
