    who would you invite ?

    key is +9 priory

person a is a main, has 2.2k rating, has run priory 8 and has an item level of 713.

person b is an alt, has 1.8k rating, says he's an alt of a 3.1k ( means he at least has 12 or 13 under his belt, presumably ) and has an item level of 705.

or, to be more precise, do you invite alts to your keys around 8 - 13 ?

    why ? why not ?

For me, higher IO alt. While it is not by any means a given, usually higher IO players have better habits of using defensives when it matters, interrupting and stopping etc. Simply because the higher you go, the bigger is the need to actually do those things. Low IO players are too often oblivious to them, because many mistakes can be corrected by tank/healer.

For a +9 I usually just take the first people who sign up. For 12 and above, if people are within a few hundreds score, I'll take whoever has the best name lmao

I'm someone who plays very sporadic, at patch release maybe once or twice a week. Don't have much time nowadays.
But, I always perform on the same or higher level as players 10 or 20 ilvls above me. +10 is not hard once you've played the dungeon once or twice.

I would always invite the person with the lower rating, because that person has more to gain from a good performance, so I imagine they will try their best. I don't care if it's an alt or not. I myself don't have a high score (I usually just do KSM and then stop caring about rating). But I know I'm good enough at why I do. So I assume other players, who quite possibly play much more than me, are the same. Even if they have a low rating.

I also never invite people who proclaim to have an "3.1k main". I want chill groups, not people who feel the need to advertise themselves to get an invite. Write "I know what I'm doing", not "I have a high score".

I also like off-Meta specs. If someone plays an unusual spec, they are often pretty good at it.

i would take the "main" because the alt's main io score is too high, i never do and never would invite anyone who's io score is above an average of having done 12s, because without fail those people are basically idiots who only run with their guild and have absolutely zero concept of how to operate in a pug.
the higher one's io score, the higher their autism when it comes to running a key, meaning they only know how to do it one specific way that they're used to and they will be a huge pain in the ass in a pug if the group doesn't naturally do everything their favorite way.

my preference for io score is always somebody right around the average score for the level of the key, those are usually the people most hungry to do well and improve their score. i would never willingly invite anyone over 3k.

I would choose person a so they can increase their score. Person a will put their best foot forward and have a good time.

Reasons not to take person b is if they think they need to tell you their main score I can't be bothered with their insecurity.

Guess person A - because who guarantees me that Person B isn't lying? Other than that...does this small ilv difference really matter?

one can always derail it by asking the main's name - server etc. but point taken.

and no, this small ilvl disparity shouln't matter at all but the idea is that either low ilvl - high exp or high ilvl - low exp.

In this case, I take low ilv and high exp. In my raiding days, I have seen great things done by talented and experienced guys even in crappy gear...and here the gear isn't even that much worse.

...and depending on class and specc, I feel more comfortable and can play safer on some of my lower ilv chars than on the ones 10 ilv above....
