A Few Updates on the Free Transmog Change Coming for All Characters

A Few Updates on the Free Transmog Change Coming for All Characters

We’re going to lower the cost of outfit creation prices by 50% to bring them more in line with what the prices were prior to the Transmog update. This price reduction is currently under development and should be available within the next day.

Additionally, we’re going to try to grant the one free Transmog to all player-characters as soon as we can, before 12.0.1, hopefully via a hotfix. We’ll update the hotfixes article once the free Transmog is available to use.

One more thing. Many of you have been asking about how the new Transmog system will work with the Trial of Style event. When Trial of Style is available, players receive a special Transmog outfit slot that can be worn both inside and outside the competition. All Transmog updates made to this slot are free. While in the competition, this is the outfit players are judged on. Once the Trial of Style event ends, the outfit slot is removed.

Thank you so much for all your feedback!

Shame about Trial of Style. I was kind of hoping I could just stick it out with a couple of outfits until the event starts, and then configure a bunch of outfits for free.

Too good to be true, it seems.

The 50% baseline cost reduction will be appreciated though.

Assuming they'll do the same for the free mog from the anniversary event, even tho that's just a few minutes per hour for a couple weeks of the year

What a clusterfuck this has been. Resetting everyone's mogs on every toon, without warning, was a kick in the teeth in and of itself: much less all the other nonsense.

A 50% cost reduction. Good. The price was 3x so it'll still be more expensive but now it might not bankrupt people who like frequently changing their outfits.
Would like to see them adjust costs for lower level characters because my level 35 had to cough up 2.2k gold for one outfit. Way too high and this condemns lower level characters to wear clown suits.

System is good but implementation is - as always - shoddy. Still needs price tweaks imo.

You can just transfer your gold through the warband. I'm very confused by people complaining about their low level characters being broke.

    1. you have been able to mail yourself gold for ages, and now you have the warband transfer for cross faction alts.
    2. the initial cost is high but overall it is much lower than before, especially if you're levelling and constantly changing your transmog to a certain style

Was gonna post this. That post you answered to confused me as well.

Also: If costs of purchasing slots is reduced for low level toons, people will just buy all slots on a fresh lv 1 toon for next to no cost.

Yeah...cost of saving outfits on several chars stays the same...but if in this day and age you have to cry over a few thousand gold...you just know that people will exploit any loophole.

free tmog does not fix the issues. there used to be tmog pricing based on player level, this system was only tested on how it affects established accounts with max level players. the system and costs to low level players, alts, etc was never tested.

i had a level 10 player get a new helm upgrade and it costs 500g+ to mog it, another low level tmog i used now costs 1700g to restore,

buying a outfit slot for 100g, and paying 1700g and chuckling, saying well you only have pay once, imo unacceptable

I guess its just required for new players leveling to just buy a wow token then. Sounds like its working as intended.

Or just don’t tmog a piece you’re going to use for approx 30 minutes.

I spent way more than that, sometimes weekly, changing tmogs on my main.
I’m not saying this is a perfect solution, but over time this saves me so much gold outside of trial of style weeks.

The system still sorta sucks now. Get rid of outfit slots and put the "custom sets" on the left instead (same functionality) and it'd be infinitely better. Also the 16char limit for naming a set is fucking retarded. That's not even a limit the old system had.
