Gathering Profession's catchup mechanic

Ever since the pre-patch I have not gotten ANY of the catchup items (Razor Talon, null silver, etc...). Has anyone else seen these drop? Did it get removed and I missed the patch notes?

I’ve still seen them drop, but it feels way less frequent after the pre-patch.

From what I understand, the catch-up items (Razor Talon, Null Silver, etc.) are tied to your weekly knowledge cap. If you’re already close to cap or fully caught up, they basically stop dropping. It’s not super clear in-game, which makes it confusing.

You might want to check:

- If you’ve already hit the weekly knowledge cap

- If you recently turned in a bunch and caught up without realizing

- If you’re gathering on a character that’s already maxed for that profession

I don’t think they were removed, but the system is pretty opaque. Would be nice if Blizzard made the catch-up status more visible.
