What was WoW's best prepatch or EVENT?

My favorite was Hearthstone's 10th Anniversary Event before they nerfed the exploit to abuse Group Finder so you could spam kill the boss.

    Story:

One of the rare occasions where EUROPE got the event first instead of AMERICA.
We quickly found a way to exploit it.
By standing still on the Stormwind boss and spam search the group finder for realms where the boss was up.
This made the event extremely trivial and easy to farm all the rewards...which for me made it all more fun than having to wait hours for respawns.

The roleplaying server Argent Dawn EU made sure to troll on this event by having entire guilds spaming AoE attacks on the boss making the game crash or lag to oblivion everytime we got matched on that server.

It also implemented the "Hearthstone Game Table" toy which was used for many exploits too.

    .......

    Final thoughts:

Waiting hours for respawns is not fun.
Using group finder to find shards where boss is up is much more fun since you complete the content at your own pace and not timegated by imaginary laws.

Legion's IMO. They were insanely busy, constantly active, made the old world feel 'new' again and anybody of any level could help. I leveled so many alts leading into Legion with those events and tons of people in my guild did as well. I was honestly sad they ended.

I had a few videos of my fire mage fighting one of the bosses in Tanaris and there were so many people it looked like a warzone. It had to be server cap or damn close to it.

The idea of being in an MMOC guild, with a bunch of perpetually angry/terminally online man-toddlers who hate the game but are too addicted to stop playing it, sure sounds like a fun way to play WoW.

Wrath. The progressive build up in stages and an actual invasion that prompted us to go to Northrend and end the threat once and for all. Plus the undead infection was super cool.

Gotta agree with Legion's. It really got people out in the world and just all over the zones, showing the Legion expanding their threat.

As neat as Wrath's was, you didn't really need to go out to other zones to do anything, and it was kind of isolated to the cities

I've always loved the build up to Cata. The old world felt like change was coming, leadership changed, earthquakes grew more frequent, cultists began appearing across Orgrimmar and Stormwind with strange devices, elementals would begin invading cities. It really did feel like change was coming.

Wrath. It was functionally and thematically by far the best. It felt like last time Blizzard tried to use gameplay as the driver for the story in terms of what sort of threat we are facing because the Scourge actually did affect moment to moment gameplay everywhere and especially in RP server where I played. It created whole new communities, RP and general sense of working together against the Plague with last stand defenses over vital spots, groups moving together to cleanse people and entire guilds dedicating their stated guild goals in actual practice (Paladin guilds, priest guilds, guard guilds etc.)

It's seemingly slow start and then sudden outbreak combined with NPC led events in harbor and repuporposed Scourge invasions from pre-Naxx event was just chef's kiss on top. Thoroughly enjoyabe, sadly short-lived and a peak never reached again. Any and all events after that have been at best inconsequential and non-relevant and at worst rush-loot-rush-loot gatherings with just different coat of fur.

Yep - there is no argument there, nothing matches the impact of being allowed to have unhindered fun for the between expansion period.

Fun was detected - and players went in full on.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.

The WotLK Zombie event remains unmatched. It was so fun and chaotic. And I always liked that the whole server community had no choice but to participate in some way.

Legion broken shores and argus. I also liked quelthalas before the Sunwell release.

Legion prepatch. Going from WoD it wasn't hard to be excited I guess, but those invasion zones were packed and it was actually great fun imo

Prepatch I think it is Legion>BfA>Wrath>>>everything else

Best event I am not sure. I loved Isle of Thunder unlock.

Wrath is the one I have the fondest of memories of.
Still have necrotic stones in my bank I think, lol.
    Cata a good second.

I absolutely understand the people who complained about the corrupted blood stuff, it was absolute dogshit if you liked to hang around in capital and not take part in the mayhem.

    Wrath, or Legion

Can someone who was active in SL pre patch explain what was different between that zombie invasion and Wraths? Didn't SL also do the zombie thing

SL’s zombie event was heavily nerfed from its Wrath counterpart tbh. The only time people got the “infected” buff is if you were near a zombie that exploded in SLs.
But back in Wrath being attacked in general would get you infected.

Also I’m psure there were actual scourge invasions like at the harbor in SW but I forget.

Wrath and Legion. Kruul invading and just murdering was also cool.
The current formula is the worst imo.

Legion is my favorite for sure.
I’m pretty sad that we haven’t gotten another prepatch like it, I feel like Midnight’s should have been like Legion with void invasions/void storms across Azeroth.

The “rares” in Twilight Highlands are just lame.
