When he "dies" Xal appears and collects him into something, can't remember if she has the dark heart at that point.

This happens before Manaforge. It has to happen somewhere between BfA, after we gave Xal'atath a body and the prologue to TWW, where Xal employs the Shadowguard to assault Telogrus.

In Midnight he's basically a tortured husk forced to do Xal's bidding

I'd imagine this video happens sometimes after the death of dimensius as the last seconds of the video show midnight void creatures.
The nexus king is wherever Xal took him after the manaforge fight, for the purpose of getting turned to void.

Didn't the Lorewalking thing tell us that she was always a void entity? This looked more like Xal'atath was trying to possess the girl but the light was too powerful and it ended up frying the girl. Preventing Xal from possessing another body.

But weren't we fighting against him BEFORE Managorge to begin with? Ethereals are the ones who stole Xally's trinket from Gallyvix, and she was pissed off.

At that point he hadn't revealed himself to have been remade by Dimensius yet, which apparently happened after we killed him in TBC, so he hadn't really taken the place as the leader of the Shadowguard yet. However there may be some dissonance going on between what happens ingame and what happens in the cinematic, as apparently the cinematic does take place after Manaforge Omega, but he was absorbed by Xala'tath so unless absorbing him just means yeeting him into a pocket dimension I don't get how he and his people are even able to attempt to escape.

If the Dark Heart is something one can just escape from within, what's stopping Dimensious from ditching?

If they could turn the literal Scourge into a Horde race all the way back in vanilla, there's no reason why the same logic can't be applied here.

Ethereals are not some hivemind conglomerate. They don't all share the same goals or loyalties.

Well, here's hoping they, at least, don't try and redeem Xal'atath.

She won't be killed off, guaranteed.

The last time Blizzard had the balls to actually kill off an important female character (as in having a prominent story role for more than one expansion) was Ysera in Legion, and even then, they basically walked that decision back with everything that happened in Shadowlands and Dragonflight.

Nah, it just showed us what Xal' looked like back during the time of the Black Empire.

If they could turn the literal Scourge into a Horde race all the way back in vanilla, there's no reason why the same logic can't be applied here.

They even turned the probably most evil and most destructive race in the lore (Man'ari) into an Alliance race via a short questline, where a guy is really sorry about what happened lol
