Imagine you go for a superhero movie, like Iron Man 1 or First Avenger. And after half of film done - they switch to Twilight or mexican soap opera. Won't this cause you some frustration?
Old fans love that "strong male testastrone" characters. People love strong female characters. But people don't like girlbosses.
And if we come to some equality - that strong female characters should be like 50/50 with strong male characters, yes? Same with weak or dependent characters.
But for now - for each strong Jaina we have weak Thrall. For each brilliant Talanji we have stupid Rasta-king. And for each badass Baelgrim they kill - we have kind Lufsela to keep.

Whiny manbabies crying about masculinity will never not be funny.
"[Zul'jan] "I'm here to help." -[Zul'jarra] "I don't need your help." -[Zul'jan] "You might." [Zul'jarra] "You could have been attacked by gnarldin or elves!"
[Zul'jan] "So could you." "Look, I know you have it in your head to do everything on your own."
"You have since we were children." Zul'jarra scowled, hoping that if he couldn't see her expression clearly, he could feel it.
[Zul'jarra] "You're still a child." [Zul'jan] "Yet you're the one throwing a tantrum." He dodged another swing of her spear.
[Zul'jan] "Let me start over. I understand why you're doing this." He paused, considered, then confessed…
[Zul'jan] "Actually, I don't, but we promised to face this world and its challenges together."
The whole thing is basically this: girl boss getting into trouble, mom or brother standing up for her, her lashing out but regretting it, and they all clapped.
(I couldn't listen to it so I read the transcript, too heavy character accent and too slow). Also don't forget "colonizers"...
Has that "permanently stuck in teenage years angst" from a female perspective and way too much dialogue.

Honestly, if this direction genuinely bothers you, the most productive course of action is to unsubscribe. When you do, use the little feedback box to clearly and calmly explain why. Be as specific and articulate as you can about what isn't working for you. That kind of feedback is far more likely to be heard than arguing in a thread. Talk with your money, that's what gets to every corporation.
It's difficult to have a rational discussion about topics like this. The conversation is so polarized that people often assume bad faith and won't engage earnestly. What's frustrating is how quickly some who present themselves as champions of representation and inclusivity jump to ridicule or label anyone who raises concerns about male representation and masculinity because those concerns apparently don't align with their preferred vision of representation.
If anyone is going to take representation seriously, it should be a principle applied consistently. Dismissing or ridiculing certain perspectives outright while demanding openness for others only makes you look like a hypocrite.
Strong independent meme female characters talking about their emotions and crying all the time are so boring you could tell after first ten minutes how this story is going to end.
