Hunt or Be Hunted with the Prey System in Midnight

Join the hunt by speaking with Magister Astalor Bloodsworn in Murder Row in Silvermoon City. Here, you’ll take on the challenge of hunting a specific target.

Once you have a target, you can continue your travels through the zones as you normally would. You will also be able to engage with several new Prey-specific gameplay mechanics and unique World Quests. Stay on your toes or your prey may find you before you find them. How and when you detect your prey is meant to be unpredictable, and it could take any number of activities or discoveries before you see them—or they see you.

Unlock three difficulty levels as you progress: Normal, Hard, and Nightmare. While in Normal difficulty other players will be able to come to your aid and help you take down your target in the outdoor world. Once you’ve reached Hard and Nightmare difficulties, you’ll need to contend with extra abilities on your enemy called Torments that make both the hunt and the final fight considerably more challenging. You and your friends will be on your own in your final encounter to take them down. No raid groups here!

    Prey Rewards

Earn a variety of cosmetic rewards to add to your collections, including mounts such as mana wyrm-themed mounts and transmog appearances. You will also be able to earn power rewards up to the Hero track and will also contribute to the Great Vault outdoor activity slot each week.

Will you be the hunter or the hunted?

"will also contribute to the Great Vault outdoor activity slot each week"

Which probably means it wouldn't count for much, probably Veteran gear.

Delves counted on that slot too which means it will probably be an alternate way to get to Heroic gear at best
3 Major Rules of World of Warcraft Players:
    1. No one on earth wants to play World of Warcraft less than other World of Warcraft players.
    2. The desire to win>The desire for anything else in World of Warcraft. NO EXCEPTIONS
    3. Efficiency will be king no matter how you think it will improve the game.

..or it is..like delves...veteran at the lowest difficulty, Champion in the middle and hero at max (since there apparently are 3 difficulties)

Apparently it contributes to the Vault. Does that count for you?

I hope it scales all the way up to what Delves rank 11 did. If not, it'll be yet another mediocre "feature" of the game that will quickly hit the graveyard of features.

It's both, up to hero gear.

And with strange aeons even death may die.

Hopefully this works out and gets iterated on. Most of their attempts at new stuff over the past few years have been a bust, but not everything. And it's important to at least try and take some risks
A better way to think about Casual v Hardcore: https://www.mmo-champion.com/threads...asual-Hardcore

Oh yeah - unless delves suck big time in Midnight - I will do what I did in TWW - basically live in them.

Agreed on both counts. To me, Delves are the condensed lessons learned from Torghast and maybe even Scenarios and Island expeditions. Which also makes it scary to think it takes so long to have a working system. Well...at least for me Delves worked. One of the best, if not the best thing about TWW

I didn't play for S2, S3 delves were fun, but S1 were a chore because of all those poison/candle/darkness mechanics that acted like a timer
    If I wanted a timer, I'd do MM+, not delves !

so I hope for more of the same delves we had on that last part of TWW where I can take a small pause in the middle without having to be at a "checkpoint"

Well, you still had candles and poisoned air in S2 and 3 - no idea if that changed, but I found it less annoying in S2 and S3 - still avoided those delves when possible. Only mechanic they changed drastically was removing the water from Sinkhole and the Abyss. So...underwater failed again.

And ofc S3 was fun because they didn't fix the Haterang bug for a long time.

Well, I want Delves with more timer based mechanics and harsher obstacles. Stuff like the various vault mechanics from MoP.

I hope Labyrinths introduce stuff like that.

Kinda tired of gearing through weekly vault tbh
Wish it could go back to being a bonus instead of your main source of upgrades 2 weeks into a new season.
