Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

The best source I've found for the up to date mat requirements is:

    http://www.elsprofessions.com/inscri...criptions.html

You now get very little skill from creating inks other than the first one. Most glyphs go yellow after making 5.

I haven't re-tested on the ptr yet, but based on current build I'm estimating (probably slightly overestimating) around 8 stacks of peacebloom etc, 5 stacks of briarthorn etc, 14 stacks of kingsblood etc, 12 stacks of fadeleaf etc and 12 of firebloom etc to get to 250. Likely similar 10+ stacks for the next two groups.

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

Inscription skills and regeant requirement change every damn Build. It is useless to make any preparation until Blizzard announce the patch 3.0

Not even 20% of the regs and skills are changed, and anyways the main skills used for leveling are pretty much still the same.

So no, it is not useless to start gathering herbs.

Youll also need lots of Primal Life to make Greater Darkmoon Cards

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

granted this was on the PTR,but It Appears that haveing 4 or 5 stacks of every herb in the game before northrend will be enough to get you to 375 inscription.

I have been stockpileing herbs for about 2 months trying to get 7 stacks of each, but when I decided to copy my characters over to the PTR I only had enough room on them to bring 5 stacks of each herb(actually a little less as I had only 3 stacks of groms blood,3 stacks of grave moss, and 3 stacks of ghost mushrooms).I hit 375 and have plenty of pigment left over .way too much of the first tier pigment actualy,I think I have enough of all the regular pigments to level another inscriptor up to the cap.

The developers could change this ,and I did not have access to the full array of inscriptions(the ptr build i did this on had no minor glyphs available at all)but a good ball park figure is 5 stacks of each.

the big X factor is the rare pigments,If your lucky and get lots of rare pigment 3 stacks of herbs may be enough, but by the same tolken if the monday people have you in there sights and you dont get a some rare pigment off of every 2nd or 3rd milling 8 stacks could still leave you short.

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

just a short question, can u create those druid glyphs as a lock? cuz if so, ive got more than needed to get to lvl 300 that way. 8)

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

Yes, any class can create any glyph. You inscribe them on to parchment, which can then be traded or sold. It's a really useful way of going about it. A lot of really nice glyphs are made during the leveling process, so expect an avalanche of cheap glyphs almost as soon as the patch hits, since people (like me) already have their mats locked and loaded, and ready to power to 375 in a day.

How do you get past 365 skill on PTR?
All my recipies are gray now and I can't find any thing more to train. :-\

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

Buy and farm 3 times what you need.

Buy out the AH the night before. Remember the prices. Set new ones. Make monies, lots and lots of it.

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

I got all the herbs I need plus 2 stacks more herbs for every Alabaster-Dusky-Golden-Emerald-Violet-Emeral Pigment herbs, just to be sure to have some reserve if I don't mill the expected amount of Pigments or if they change something on the PTR, spent about 500g.

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

My main is a Lock. I am a 375 potion master Alch. I almost exclusively pvp unless I feel I need to pve toy achieve something. My question is, would you guys say its worth dropping my alch profession for inscription? My herb is maxxed till WOTLK and for the most part Alchemy is lookin like its gonna take some less than desireable nerfs, and buffs that I could really care less about despite enjoying arena.

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

im not sure about arena and alchemy, but for pve mixology is worth its weight in gold,my flasks are lasting 4 hours instead of 2,i normally dont use elixirs but id imagine they have double time effect as well.

the way the mixology tip is worded it says increased duration or effect on flasks and elixirs you can make,so far all ive seen on 10 flasks was the 4 hour duration.

as a pve player who focuses on 25 man raids and makes a ton of flasks for my guild mates ill be alchemy and inscription for lich king,my recently revived hunter is now my farming toon, mining and herbalism(the perfect solo play class come the gathering perks, between extra stam from mining,a self HoT from herbalism and the 58-3-0 "sic' em'" spec it should be pretty easy to farm those contested nodes and herbs.)

Re: Inscription (this is what I got so far)

in this thread I stated earlier that 5 stacks of each herb should be enough to reach 375,that statement was calibrated when 1 common pigment made one common ink,now its 2 common pigments makes one common ink.I think that I would have had enough of the common pigments to hit the cap with my 5 stack estimate.(it looked like I had enough common pigment to level a second character if I could have bought some of the rare pigment on the ah)

the good change is that now most of the rare inks that require rare pigment use less pigment overall.
the build i leveled it up on had most rare inks taking one rare pigment and one common pigment to make one rare ink,now for the most part the rare pigments provide rare ink at a 1 pigment to 1 ink ratio.

basically they made the rare ink bottleneck less likely to be a problem, and the possiblility of not having enough common pigment a reality.its a fair trade off,you always get common pigment when you mill, but the rare stuff is a crap shoot.
