    Polished graphics?

will we see any polishing soon in WOW? , compairing WOTLK to wow vanilla and TBC , its seems that they are already tuning op the graphics abit , not by much but editing shadows + some really nice ingame artwork is atleast a step in the good direction..

when blizzard fused together with activision , there was something on the officiel website , saying that together with activision they will remake the graphics for wow , so it would be a little bit up to date again , and could compete in terms of graphics with new MMO's coming on the market , it was removed like a day after it was on the officiel site , maybe some people have info regarding this?

and btw if they will polish the game up what do u guys want to see?

    what i find important is

    - remaking the race's for horde and alliance , tauren look more dumb then strong and wise , orcs look more retarded then brute , trolls look terrible.... the only races i really like as horde is Undead and Bloodelfs they both look ok.

it would be nice if we could have more detailed characters ,also talking about custamising ur char , i mean with so many people playing WOW u dont really see uniq characters , because of the small amount of details to choose from when u start a char.

i really like the graphical style of wow , i also play since day 1 but it would be nice if we would get some new features in terms of details!

i would like to see some feedback about idea's from other people , and knowing if anyone has any info yet

    greetings dreetjuh

I'd like to see more choice in face customization, like cheekbones, hair colour, ect.

like why is it that gnome can have pink hair and tauren can't? WTF is up w/ that?

Also, I'd like to see a Labrynth-like area in northrend w/ clear ice walls. So you can see the mob patrols, but not when I'd actually encounter them. scary on your toes feel ftw.

    Re: Polished graphics?

There are many things they could do better and a lot of things they've done right.

First off, what needs improvement is armor (aside from shoulders). It is almost an universal agreement with all my friends and people who play MMO's that when it comes down to armor, WoW has the best looking shoulders, and some helms follow suit. Mostly the issues reside from the chest below, everything is just painting on the character then, which makes armor a bit unattractive. It needs to be redone to give it a physical look rather than a painted look.

Second: The shadows they have in the new patch are still messed up, they need reworking, Lord of the Rings online does a great job with their shadows, alas they use DX10, which brings up my next point.

Make a DX10 WoW option. They could do worlds more with DX10, and I'm sure those with DX10 cards would appreciate it, and this can all be done while still keeping DX9 for those who can't/won't upgrade to Vista.

Alongside DX10 they could add High-res texture packs available, this is seen in many MMO's and some are hit and miss but with blizzard I know they'd do a great job with that.

Really the game as it stands now even in the new patch its still a very great game with damn good graphics, even if people think they look cartoony they still are pretty well done. But as I stated the above updates would produce a richer more immersible game in my opinion.

    Re: Polished graphics?

The graphics will always have a cartoony look -- it really gives the game its own uniqueness and fantasy feel.

DX9/DX10 -- who really cares what they use, so long as the game is eventually brought up to a higher resolution than it currently is.

Right. You don't quite understand what I was getting at so I'll help your ignorance. I never said they used DX9 to the fullest. And I wasn't requesting DX10, get that out of your thick headed skull before you post again. I was answering the OP about what could be done to update or enhance the graphics, I wasn't calling for these actions in any way.

Seeing as I love playing tuaren, I really hope they update them soon. The hands/faces need some major work.

The shadows were a good start, they really seem to improve the look from what i've seen, now they just need to improve the poly-count on armor (not to mention they need to stop considering people still using cards from 8+ years ago) so it actually looks like armor, not spandex. Improving the lighting, particle and weather effects would also breathe some new life into the game without destroying the fantasy theme.

As your post isn't an answer to question 1, it has to be the answer to question 2 -> you want ("request") DX10.
And you've done nothing to move this thread forward either.

Pot, I'd like to introduce you to my friend, Kettle.

OP, as far as I've seen, Northrend is stunning as a whole. Quite honestly, the most unattractive features are definitely the players themselves. It's a real treat just running around, taking everything in. Now, unfortunately, going back and making the rest of the world look even slightly better is a pretty big task. One that Blizzard probably won't be able to do while SC2 and D3 are in full development. It's not to say that we won't see possible minor tweaks, like updated player models, added "flair" features across the world, and higher polygon counts across the board. But I really wouldn't hold my breath for anything for some time to come. Personally, I love the "cartoony" feel of the game, and being able to run it smoothly on any computer I've come across. I'm sure a large portion of the 10 million others out there are also grateful.

    Re: Polished graphics?

SC2 and D3 being in development have nothing to do with WoW.

Some people always come to this bizzare misconception about video game companies that them starting new work on a new game somehow directly impacts resources available to their old game. This is almost NEVER the case.

WoW has it's own dev team. People were not magically pulled from WoW development and design to work on SC3 or D3. New people were hired to work on those projects.

I'm not an animator, but i imagine that it takes a LOT longer then 5 minutes or so to create a proper animation, especially if you don't want it to turn out looking stupid.

I mean, if game companies can spend MILLIONS on a game project and the main character looks like he is trying to run around with a load of crap in his pants (splinter cell) every time he moves, then imagine what it would take to get a dozen different animations done for hundreds of possible character frames.

I mean, If it was THAT easy, they would have added new dances to the game YEARS ago. The undead females have a single bad 3 second long animation loop as their SOLE dance routine since the game started.

    Re: Polished graphics?

I would like to see higher poly models for all races with better textures and smoother animations. Draenei and Blood Elves are great looking with really smooth animations! Compared to any other race they're far superior. When I played a Gnome for a bit the choppy animation for just standing around annoyed the crap out of me! And every race deserves a new higher resolution skin/texture in my opinion.

I've played in PTR though, and I really do love the new complex shadowing system for world and characters. It makes a huge difference (to me) than seeing a blob on the floor as your shadow.

Funny, since I worked at the Redwood EA campus for just over 4 years, and you could not be more wrong. Certain critical roles are almost entirely up to a single entity within one of the major companies. I'm not saying, nor did I ever say, that WoW somehow lost members to Starcraft or Diablo. What I am saying, is that the focus of a company, and their core executive members can/will shift from title to title depending on the demands presented by the market. Blizzard has stated before that they have separate teams, and while this means there is little impact from the stresses of other titles being made, it does not mean that WoW is unaffected by their other development concerns across the companies platform.

Sorry, but their budget doesn't allow it, they only make ~130000000€/month.

I'm all for the increased character customization thing, and I think that will certainly expand over time (starting with the barbershop soon to be implemented. It's stimple but its a start). Would be interesting if you could change the basic character model to be a bit taller plumper etc..

I'd also like to see more realistic little effects such as your character appearing wet after you go swimming and having the food you eat be a little more detailed than a spherical blob the size of your head.

What? you don't enjoy seeing your characters stick their entire face into an oversized mug? I do

i totally agree on there , dont get me wrong funky fuhrer i like the cartoony style aswell , infact i loved it , but it would be even more better if they sharpened up the textures , and remade the currently race models , i also like the idea of taller and more plump hahah , would be kinda cool , with a max on it ofcourse , dont wanna see undead getting 2 meter tall :P or worse fat large gnomes ^^

    Re: Polished graphics?

i think what they really need to work on is the whole "IM HOLDNIG A MASSIVE CAEK INSIDE A CUP AND ATTMPTING TO EAT!" Maybe, a modle for the drink, and the meal and your character switches between the two... seems logical..

    </offtopic >

Definantly needs better models and 1 thing ive always hated is the trees in wow... you know, every fkin single tree is about 18 storys high. I mean sure there can be high trees but it's jsut theirs no small ones :x diversity plzkthx.
