    Lore Behind the Moonkin

So.. this is a random lore question about Moonkin-kind. and, by extension I s'pose, Trees of Life. but mostly Moonkin.

    ...what am I?
    I understand; a big, arcane moon-magic wielding owl/bear/elf/stag/chicken.

    but what Druid am I?

Druids of the Claw are the roflbears, like Broll, the Feral guys.
Druids of the Talon are the raven/stormcrow/hawk totem druids that teach us our flight forms.
Druids of the Wild use all animal totems available to them, I s'pose?

I thought for a short while that Moonkin were Druids of the Antler, but the Antlers are just a group trying to revive the powers of Malorne and are a rumour at this point.

where to we Moonkin belong, and why do we shapeshift into our awesome boomkin form?
and where did the Tree of Life form come from? all I can find is that the Trees of Life were powerful Ancients, saplings of Nordrassil.

add any other relevant druid lore too, I'm sucha lorewhore.

    Re: Lore Behind the Moonkin

You seem to forget the quest line that explains the origin on Wildkin which i am sure has a close resemblance to Moonkin Form so affectively we are Druids of Elune ( Druids of the Moon ) ?

    Favored of Elune? > http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=3661
    followed by
    Moontouched Wildkin > http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=978
    Which eventually leads to
Guardians of the Altar > http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4901
    and finally
    Wildkin of Elune > http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4902

Maybe thats as much Lore as we can expect a few holes in how Druids came to be able to achieve this form unlike the quests for Bear Aquatic etc..

just look at it this way, your boomkin form is your hommage to the wildkin's which are the only beast to develope drudaic powers. By taking on their form you also tapp into their link to such powers of nature and boost your own.

as far as the tree form goes i would say that is directly due to the WC3 night elf buildings.

but to be honest i think the only reasion you get these forms instead of a buff was so they could put the class of spell restrictions on you as well so they could get you not to complane when a feral changes form that you cant have your own form)
warriors get rust, pallys cant hear you in that bubble, death knights are screaming about voices, druids? were trying to get whats left of your face off our claws.

To be honest, lore-wise Wildkins are fascinating. I mean seriously, while I'm struggling to let the Bear spirit posses me and claw someone, you're taking up the form of a race created and favored by Elune (possibly the strongest entity in WoW after the Titans), which was elected as guardians of the most sacred places of Azeroth, AND allowed to tap into the Moon Goddess powers.
Follow that questline imo, it's very cool lore-wise

On a sidenote: while if you look back at WC3 some of our spells come from the Claw guys (Bearform, Rejuv), some from the Talon guys (Cyclone) and some from the Keeper of the Grove hero class (Thorns, Treants), which would make us a strange mix, in reality all druid players in WoW are Druids of the Claw.
