best wepons for a shadow priest?

i cant really seem to find a very good 1handed wepon for a shadow priest that has 500+SP i know the healin one is Torch of Holy Fire ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40395 ) and the DPS one is The Turning Tide ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40396 ) but that is a sword and as well all knoew priests can hold swords. is thew best wep we can get only have 461 SP?

basically what this proves is even if you are under the hit cap the torch of holy fire is superior... hit is only worth 1.12 SP and the 60 extra SP on the torch is > 45 hit on the Haunting Call.

You're better off getting ur hit elsewhere

its long term dps, not specific dps... the one time you dont hit with DP you lose a lot... but the next time you dotn miss any spells at all... its the law of averages.

It might be average over 20 bosses, but that still means you might do 1% less dps, and wipe at 1%, which was your hit caps fault

Heh, reminds me of 1% wipes at brutallus when SWP came out. But yes, Go for Torch or Haunting bearing in mind that you need your hit capped.

Anyway, my personal estimate is there's a larger chance I'll get a weapon with +hit on, than mp5. Our healers need upgrades as well.

Hammer of the Astral Plane as prety balanced stats , if you dont need the hit i belive it's one of the best weapons for shadow atm , yes the healer mace is bether but who can face the horde of dkp a healer as this days.

We've seen some horrid luck on weapon drops in naxx 25 for casters. 1 sword off kt, 1 mace off man loatheb, zero healing maces, 1 +hit dagger ..... and ya, we've been clearing it a few times =)

Get your hands on what you can and work your gear around it. Crafted will hold you nicely till patch, even then it still isn't too horrid.

The mace off KT is prolly the single most sought after item for multiple classes and spec's ....My guess is, you'll see it, LATER being shadow.

I can use the same argument the otherway... your spells dont miss but that 1% haste you didnt have caused the wipe at 1%... it is the law of averages...

If you look at a lot of the theorycraft for LK vs TBC you will see that hit isn't as well valued and a lot of people are more than happy to be close to the hit cap and stack pure dps stats. Does that mean I won't try to get hit capped... no, but being hit capped is the be all and end all it used to be.

Yes, but I don't like that idea. And I suspect alot of "ghost hit" from the transition to 3.0 been fixed in next patch.

Ghost hit or not, theorycrafting is pointing to the fact that hit is far less valued in comparison to what it was in TBC... Ret pallys for example are stacking strength at the expense of hit whereever possible...

The point is in the end that the torch of holy fire is a superior weapon to any other item that is currently available in the game, regardless if you are hit capped or not... you are far better off getting ur hit else where and having the torch will be useful as a priest because you do have 2 other trees which (shock horror) are used for healing.

I just wanted to indicate that your logic about causing a wipe at 1% was flawed and can easily be turned around... ie. under hit cap can cause a wipe but so can not having that extra 20SP or 1% haste or whatever you would miss out on being hit capped.

Retribution paladins also talked about having ghost hit. I'd still keep Haunting Call, and utilize the spellpower otherwhere if I had the chance.

Yes its there, YES its going away

Pick gear that gives you the best all around mobility, weapons with +hit are few and far between, however free up alot of other slots for +dmg and +crit ability.
