Quitting the fail that WoW has become when Aion comes out. No point to play hardcore when any idiot can have the same gear as you.

Basically they use an MPQ browser to look into the PTR data files. Blizzards been using MPQ files to store their data since practically forever, or at least since the original Diablo in 1996. As such, it's a pretty well explored file format now, and I think the only thing that's really changed over the years is the type of compression they use.
