Leveling as prot

Now I've been retribution my whole time while leveling. I'm level 73 at the moment, and I'm wondering how good it is to level as prot.
Is it fast? Can you handle alot of mobs without too much trouble? And overall, is it worth speccing prot to do solo questing and farming?

I don't know much about the protection changes in 3.1, but should I wait until the patch hits? Perhaps this doesn't even matter, I'll be level 80 by then. But still, I'm going to do dailies and farm at 80 as well.

for some of the harder group quests in northrend i had to be prot to solo it
otherwise i find ret alot better you kill faster and can still handle alot of mobs
id stick to Ret unless you wanna do dungeons then go Prot since tanks and healers are always hard to find *most of the time*
