    Shadow Priest vs Retri Paladin

Attention: This is topic is not ment to QQ!

I am just wondering who would win 1vs1 fight

Cause Since patch 3.0 Paladin are the OP classes of the history!
But this patch Shadow Priest got BOOSTED!

So I was wondering do we Shadow Priest have any chance against Retri Paladins?

If you can you please explain.

    Many Thanks,

It's still too few shadowpriests playing around to tell you their chances to win, at least on my realm there are no high rated shadowpriests.
But from shadowpriests i experienced so far, i must tell its quite easy for retri paladin to win the fight, yet well played and geared shadowpriest could make a trouble.

Shadow Priest is currently underpopulated class in terms of pvp and arena, so far in this season we met one shadowpriest playing with rogue (2.4k rated tho). Playing ret/restoshaman myself we won one and lost second fight with them, when priest decided to swich more into healing than dpsing.

Don't forget you can outplay any class depends on your and your opponent's skills and gear, yet on battlegrounds a good shadowpriest is something extremly rare to meet and duel with, still too few to say how a fair duel with really skilled player would look.

It comes only from duelist, so you might wait for some gladiator's reply :P

well i guess 1v1 could be a close match, most likely because shadowpriests also got some nice burst with around 10-14k damage(including sw:d), i guess the pala would have to use bubble at least to beat him, at same skillvl ofc. in arena you are never alone thus it doesnt matter who can beat who.

and saying that rets are still the most op ever is a bit "wrong". they were very op before wotlk aired, and a few weeks after until they nerfed them to the ground. endless mana taken away, holy-damage divine storm taken and so on, those nerfs were really needed but after them i dont see rets more op than any other melee-dpser out there...

SPs can win if they time their CDs right and can catch Bubble or Wings fast, as long as they don't have problems with Shadow Res aura, if you don't have enough spell pen you're fucked

Okay what the hell is this supposed to mean anyway.

First of all the person was not telling you HOW to pvp. He was saying that it was difficult to run into a geared/experienced shadow priest in any pvp setting so it's hard to tell for now.

Shadow priests really suck as far as I know (If you're good, I don't care because the few I've fought really suck). They always get bursted down fast. Then they all respec discipline and self-penance their way to victory and never turn back. It's just a matter of time till all shadow priests realize how much discipline owns.

Re: Shadow Priest vs Retri Paladin

I've played my pally since the release of BC and lvled as retribution. are dps was a joke back then finding a group to run instances with was almost impossible. 2.4 they buffed us with crusaders strike that helped but in 3.1 they changed the mechanics entirely and added devine storm. Are dps is on par with most other dps classes maybe a little lower.

    In PVP at Patch 3.1.1
our Bubble absorbs all damage but reduces damage by 50%
    we cant use exorcism
are judgment has had a major decrease in damage
    they buffed seal of blood/martyr
"Personal Preference i use Command knowing i could kill myself in about 2 min of constant dps with out a healer"

Sum it up it depends on how you play your class i have been smashed by some shadow priests in arenas who dot me up droping my health quite fast. at the same time i have gotten off a good rotation on a Spriest and was able to burn them down.

I'm a healer. I replenish your lost health. If you are standing in fire, you are stupid. I can't heal stupid.

If the Shadowpriest is specced right, and knows the mechanics of both classes, the shadowpriest will win. MY reason being is that I play both classes and speccs, and while pally is still OP, I find it easier to melt faces on my priesty. Sure bubble is nice, and Art of war, but as soon as that bubble is on CD it's GG.

You must be a very dire ret paladin.
If you play your cards right you don't have to use bubble.
I bet you're the kind of paladin that never dispel our dots.

Re: Shadow Priest vs Retri Paladin

If you ask me, shadow pvp still isn't viable... from 3.09 we have some dispel resistance, a 2min CD 3sec horror with 10sec disarm (which will generally be a 5 sec duration against classes that matter) and snare immunity during dispersion... in short this is well short of what is required to make shadow viable.

Firstly the balance of a spriests stats (particularly in PvP gear) results in very low crit in comparison to other dps casters. Resilience pretty much makes our opponents crit immune or near enough to, reslience also heavily penalises DoT damage on top of the fact that DoTs are susceptible to mitigation via dispel mechanics. DoTs are also the slowest form of damage and are easily healed through and don't apply enough offensive pressure to force opponents into less aggressive action... the net result is our opponents can slice through us but we have 0 ability to reciprocate.

The obvious answer to the above is we need to play a game of control, but to do that you need superior survivability and this is still something we don't have. In addition we don't really have any reliable ability to control... past our 2 fears (or 1 fear and 1 horror) we have very little and we all know how easily fear is countered. MC is about the only other ability we have and that is hardly a safe control ability as it is easily broken (range, shadow resist), interrupted (3 sec cast) and countered (simply hit the spriest MCing and it breaks).

We need some type of reliable control ability... locks get survivability in the form of high health pools, soul link and repeatable fear... shadow priests have to live with a lot less health, a poorer version of soul link and no repeatable control...
