http://be.imba.hu is a good site for microoptimizations. There are others around too, but I keep forgetting their urls

Edit: Sorry, not that good for shadowpriests TBH...

    Re: Want some advice

Firstly, I put some effort into the Shadowpriest dps 101 sticky at the top of the forums so please take some time to read that at least. Just from that you would notice that gemming for hit is undesirable and you want to find a gear set where you can simply gem SP.

In that vain you have a 16 crit gem in your chest (bad), replace it with 19sp. Your meta gem is bad, replace it with a chaotic skyflare diamond.

Because you seem to be gemming without understanding the implications I highly suggest you goto www.shadowpriest.com and click the best raid gear thread at the top of the page and read all the information pertaining to PP (Pseudo Power). The general consensus is the best possible gear and customisation results from gaining the highest possible PP value from all your pieces. This is modeled on simulationcraft and is never 100% correct, but for such a theoretical aspect it's the best guide you have.

On the gear side you have some pretty average pieces (when comparing your gear for 25man uld content). The T7.5 shadow legs are awful, you shouldn't be using them... considering you're gemming for hit I'd highly suggest you attempt to get the Leggings of the Wanton Spellcaster or the hit legs (forget the name) from Iron Council. Some other very nice hit pieces are the 10 or 25man Maly neck, Gemmed Wand of the Nerubians and Surplus Limb. Getting all or some of these will allow you flexibility in other slots where you are utilising poor hit items, namely Girdle of Bane and to some extent Ward of the Violet Citadel and Signet of the Malevolent (those last 2 are actually not too bad but not optimal).

Just further on the hit... if you study the best raid gear thread you will see that items are ranked with white PP and orange PP. The way to get the best hit gear is to take the absolute BiS item (white value) and the PP value of the next best possible item (white value again) that has hit. Then you find the ratio of lost PP for each point of hit you would gain, BiS ((White Value) - Hit Item (White Value)) / Total hit on hit item. So if you would lose 80pp to gain 40 hit you would sacrafice 2 PP per hit rating... you can then compare that ratio with other hit items in other slots and thus find the most efficient hit pieces possible.

After doing that you should create a total gear plan to work towards so you spend your dkp on items that promote the best possible gear plan that you can obtain. Keep in mind not to factor in items you will never clear, if you know you won't ever do algalon don't even look at his loot table.

Lastly your talents look pretty solid but I have a problem with one of your choices. You have taken points out of improved Shadow Form to get imp VE. I like imp VE and I think you should try to get it but not at the expense of imp SF. If you really want imp VE take points out of Imp Spirit Tap. You shouldn't be going oom, you have disperision and 3min shadow fiend, this is plenty of mana resources to do away with IST. And before you complain about losing SP from twisted faith, if you have 488 spirit + 80 from DS + 20 odd from MotW (forget the actual number + kings is roughly 660, so your IST proc gives you a massive 6 - 7 sp... for 5 points investment its a very poor return. If you do decide to take this advice you can even take the 3 points out of ST and place them in something like shadow affinity, or even pick up inner focus or Psychic Horror.

    Re: Want some advice

All I can say, from my experience on this board, is...

    Listen to Worshaka.

Not being a shadow priest myself, I can still see that your gems are off and that your gear isn't really on par with where you said your guild is. Replace whatever reputation and 5 man gear you have ASAP with at least Naxx 25 stuff if you want to compete well in Ulduar.

I would suggest reading Worshaka's post over and over and going through his sticky on this board at the top, and whatever links he gave you.

    Re: Want some advice

He's obviously in a 10man raiding guild, so he may not have acces to the items linked by worshaka.

But for all the other stuff Worshaka posted (mainly gemming and pseudo power), I'd say go with his advice.
