    Ret pallies-vanilla

so i started playing WoW at BC release and all throughout BC it was lolwut a ret pally?
so i was thinking...ret got crusader strike as a source of damage in BC
but...they have like no other damage dealing abilities that i can think of...just wondering like wtf they used as ret in vanilla...was there some ability that was removed? or ???

Back then, judgement used to remove your seal, so you spent a lot of time during the "rotation" recasting that.

There's a reason it was called "lolret" in vanilla.

You would have been laughed at if you tried to join a group as a DPS paladin.

That was beta. As a ret paladin in vanilla you had SoC and judgement as your main attacks. SoC was a lot better back then, doing 100% weapon damage on proc and it couldn't be dodged/blocked/parried.

The appropriate counter to a pre-TBC Retribution Paladin was a [Heavy Mageweave Bandage]

    Re: Ret pallies-vanilla

I was a vanilla Retadin but my spec was not pure Ret. I went Prot/Ret down to Reckoning in Prot which was, IMO, the best Ret spec back then since judgement/auto attack were the only source of damage. But with a combo of SoC and Reck bomb's we had potential to wreck some face(in PvP, PvE was nonexistent as Ret)
Imagine running into a Ret pally(while laughing to yourself thinking it will be EZ mode) hitting them once and suddenly your dead. Rogues were my favorite to fight back then; yeah they could have easily raped you, but if they triggered Reckoning and failed to keep you stunlocked you could make them hurt.

Yeah, but that was back when it was bugged and you could stack it up to 100(?) then unload it all at once. That was very short lived tho.

Yeah but judgement was off the GCD, so it was really didn't take any more time than it does now. It was nice in bc being able to time a crusader strike, melee swing, and judgement all together. Combined with a SoC proc and you could potentially do a lot of dmg.

ah yes I remember now. Back in TBC I ran dual shockadins, talk about blowing someone up!
Sanc Aura+Wings+Divine Favor+trinkets+holy shock+judgement all in 1 global=9k damage, times two shockadins=anything dead. too bad I didn't figure this out till the end of BC.
