Re: How much dps should i be doing

Do you hit a target twice with the same spell if you have that much hit rating?
You should definitely drop some if you have alternate pieces. right now you're 4% over the cap.

    Gem for pure SP.

Get new trinkets, tears of the vanquished is doing shit for you besides giving you intel and you are way above the hit cap so you can drop the hit trinket.

Get the chaotic skyfire meta (its like +20 crit, +3% crit damage) or such.

    Enchant your bracers with SP.

Get a belt buckle and put SP in it.

Spriests should be able to get high dps fairly quick progression wise.

Re: How much dps should i be doing

lol. maybe he doesn`t know how much hit he needs

u have 476 hit rating and u only need 289

get rid of both trinkets. get Sundial of the Exiled for 40 heroism badges and you can also get Egg of Mortal Essence ... it`s a static +SP and the bonus procs off VE and DP

u have green gems ... get blues at least. also get SP gems mostly, forget the crit and shit.
get chaotic skyflare for meta, 30SP on wrist, get the kirin tor SP + crit for head and the sons of hodir shoulder enchants.

for rotation, if you would`ve checked it, there are tons of threads about it. VT DP MF (full3 ticks) (now you have 5 stacks of SHadow Weaving) SW:P then MB. keep VT DP up, MB every cooldown, MF in between. for bosses it`s good to have VE up too

    have fun

The poor gear and gemming/choices leads me to think you don't know your class. So to answer your question "How much dps should i be doing ?" I'd say, not a lot.

Considering the horrible gearing, 3k is pretty good. Just catch your ideas on how to gear up with your ability to actually do damage and you should be fine.

Re: How much dps should i be doing

Spell priority is VT (for misery), MB, MF, DP, SW:P (cast SW:P when 5stacks of shadow weaving is up and renew it when a spell damage proc is up)

As far as what I see on your gear... 3k sounds good to me.

    Fail. Some people never learn.
Your current spellpwoer is taken into consideration when you cast your mind flay and the sw refreshes.

All wrong. Too tired to explain. Read Shadow Priest 101 sticky. Stop giving wrong advice.
I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us.

It wasn't that far off. DP>MF instead of vice versa and only recast SW:P only on outside bonuses (Loatheb, Thaddius). That wasn't so hard to correct.

Nope, better off with the sunial.

I believe the poster you quoted suggested getting the Sundial and also the Egg. They are both significantly better than the trinkets had by the OP, with the Sundial being the first priority.

Re: How much dps should i be doing

Sometimes I wonder why I spent the time on that Shadow Priest DPS 101 thread, I thought it would solve these pointless threads but apparently not.

All the beginner information you are after is in that thread, including tips on how you can measure your dps effectiveness and work out how close you are to the theoretical maximum. You will need to start combat logging and you will need to put time into analysing combat logs and discover what you may be doing wrong.

It also helps if you have another spriest in your raid, you can compare combat logs and talk with each other about your dps techniques on specific encounters.

If not, perhaps post a question about a specific encounter instead of some blanket 'how much dps should I be doing', that question is so vague and impossible to answer correctly it's not funny.
