I play ret as off-spec(main holy).
I have been using Edge of ruin, but recently looted the Reclaimed Shadowstrike(Reclaimed Thunderstrike) from Onyxia 10m. Just wondering Is Reclaimed Thunderstrike an upgade? (i knowhigher dps, but lack of str & fast 3.1 speed)

I believe that Weapon damage is the Top priority.
If you want download a program called "Rawr"
it will show you what weapons/armor that will put out more dps.

Rawr and a trip to Elitest jerks.
but in a nut shell....your best tool is to look at the "top end" damage of the weapon. the bigger it is, the better it is.
as for actual itemization is concerned...Hit is a big deal for 2 reasons. first. its your top stat. and second theres so MUCH of it now that being over cap is a real and present danger. im personally currently running at 9.70% hit because i can DITCH the hit yet...stuff hasnt droped yet. but it will, and i will.
expertise is roughly equal to Str right now. but Exp has a soft cap and Vengence glyph makes for easy intermission.
But your right in that your first and formost concern for dps must be your weapon. more then any other slot its teh one that will have the largest impact on your dps. if you get a weapon wiht HIT or EXP thats a HUGE chunk of those easily met stats. so be cautious.
