Cobra Reflexes (Pet Talent) - Is it worth it?

I am new to the Hunter class and their Pet's talents, however http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=61683 struck me as a very unclear talent.

Could one of you experienced Hunters explain to me what Damage does this talent reduce? White damage only or is Yellow (special abilities) damage reduced as well?
How much is it reduced by? Does anyone have a precise number?

Overall, is it worth it? Does it benefit my Pet enough for the Damage decrease to be accepted?
Thanks for reading and answering. Cheers!

    It's worth it.

a striped down version is like this

It increases the attacks that your pet does per second/minute however you wish to think. but in doing so it reduces the damge the attack does, but since the pet is attacking twice as fast it evens out.

Even more than evening it out, it does become a DPS increase.

To OP, I have no precise numbers off hand, but I can tell you that it is a DPS increase and is a must have.

Yes it is worth it, i dont know the exact numbers, but it is especialyl worth it if your an orc (orc powah)
    Ex:
    Pet starts out with 5
Corbra reflexes takes out 3, but makes it attacking faster
    Spiked collar gives 3
and orc racial ( if your an orc) gives say 2
had 5, end up with 7 and a greater attack speed.

    Okay, thank you for replying.

Does it lower White damage only, or does it also lower the Damage of Yellow attacks (claw, thunderstomp, rake, bite, chimaeras breath...)?
Does it affect Growl's threat generation part in any way?

Thanks again for reading and helping out.

Yes, no, no. It's auto attack based, growl has a set value, and yellows are crap anyway.

The important thing to note is that more attacks means more chances to crit.

And if you're BM, more pet crits means more dps overall.

It does smaller damage per hit, but hits 30% more often, which does more DPS overall.. Plus, there isnt any other talent you could put points in that increased DPS at T1 anyways.

I keep forgetting that sarcasm is wasted on the internet.

Haven't tried this myself but I could see you taking points out of cobra reflexes as BM in arenas (or even most other specs).

Generally in arena, overal damage doesn't matter much, it's controlled burst. In other words, when you time cobra strikes with kill command, it's better to have a slower, but harder hitting attack so that you can take biggest advantage of the60/40/20% damage increase and guaranteed crits...

again... I can't attest for the practicality of the above but it has to be weighed against the increased speed pushing attacks back more often.

It does... read your hunter talent plz.

Cobra reflex boost your pet attack speed, but reduce white attack dmg PER strike.

If you take just that, it is a dps boost, but not a huge one, BUT it boosts several BM talent.

Frenzy, Ferocious inspiration and Invigoration are the 3 talents that are boosted a lot by Cobra's reflex.

Another note, it boosts the pet's own talent if you take them.
Bloodthirsty , Rabid. Those 2 talents are boosted by Cobra's Strike.

    That's for PvE.

For PvP, it boost caster pushback, although now there is a maximum... so it's not as good as it used to be for that.

As for the exact dps boost for the talent alone, I guess you'd have to try. I will try it when my new hunter get's it.
