Intresting, but I cant stand such things myself. Too easily bored with all the text and numbers.
BUt bookmarked just in case anyway

1. the new version (322-6) has a QT GUI, so most of the technical info is redundant, since the batch files aren't necessary. this is a good thing.Originally Posted by bigtox
the newer GUI has tabs instead of batch files you edit. you can either follow the order of tabs, import a script you've saved earlier, or paste a new one into the window, and run the simulation from there.
when you import your character info from a XML file or the warcraft armory, it generates the .simcraft file, which you can save.
as the simulation's script is generated on the fly, drop-down menus make available a quite helpful feature for gear-scoring, switching to helter-skelter rather than the imaginary patchwerk pure-DPS fights more revealing/advantageous. also, new graphs for viewing the skew/scale factors makes the benefit of one stat more obvious, since you can plot to see where haste meets crit, and which one will boost DPS first, and later on.
this does make overrides more difficult though.
ok I just got the last fency version, it doest almost everything for you, BUT, its not quite exacte.. on a dummy... the sim tell me i should pull 5k dps but on live I pull 5.5k dps...something is not right...(I was just self buff)

I'm a bit afraid to ask this question, but anyone know how to set up simcraft on a MAC ? I've googled and tried my best, just can't seem to figure it out. Any help is greatly appreciated.
G-
Awesome thanks for your help. i'll let you know how it goes.
I've tried to use this with the latest release and read the previous post about not having the simcraft.bat file and that you can import your character via the armoury, however this defaults to the US armoury and not the EU one and I am unable to find my character.
Any ideas on how I can change this?

what is snapshot_stats and why is it priority #5?
@Carling - Main page, you can select "ARMORY REGION: US/EU" from the drop down. Use simcqt.exe for a GUI.
@Karii - Simcraft goes through everything in the list until it can find a thing to do, does that, then resets at the top, except on Snapshot Stats. Snapshot stats occurs after your "pre-combat" setup so there is no trending data based on your non-buffed stats. Then what happens is it reads the next line - in the case of the screenshot, its /use living flame. Hey, living flame isnt on cooldown, so use that and reset.
Now snapshot stats again to get updated values (Living flame buffs you), read the next line... Living flame is on cooldown, next line... Bloodlust isn't up yet, so skip this line... etc
The default script changes week to week, so stay current!
My thanks to you, Gherkin. It's working fine now.

I know that this is a rather open ended question, but how would I go about modeling the upcoming buffs in simcraft?
I have a few different reasons for this, but the main question I have is when does life tap slip below any other glyph for dps gain? Or for that matter does it at all?
I'd like to ask this on EJ but anything posted without a math degree seems to result in a temp ban and seems pointless.
So I'm looking for a way to just figure it out myself, and for my gear specifically.
(I have the simcraft gui btw) simqt.

Since Agony is our 4th best glyph:
Run Simcraft with Glyph of Agony
Run Simcraft with Glyph of Life Tap
(Total DPS with Life Tap) - (Total DPS with Agony)
------------------------------------------------- = Net Spell Power difference
Average SP Scale Factor
I come out with 109 Spell Power for myself, which divided by .2 means I have to replace 545 spirit with other stats before Agony wins out.
TLDR: Never. I highly doubt you will end up with sub-250 Spirit fully raid buffed.
Gotcha, thx Gherkin.

WoW.com have just printed an article containing a pretty good guide to running a basic sim with the current version of simcraft. In terms of detail, it's not a patch on Modez's guide, but worth a look if you just want to get started and the technical is overwhelming you.
Nice guide, gonna be fun to work with.
