    Re: Introducing the Pet Store

Trust me, seeing a company such as Blizzard hiding a commercial action behind the concept of "charity" is just offensive. I find it offensive, for what I define "charity" and "helping less fortunate people".
Is this guy serious? Would you honestly be happier if Blizzard didn't give anything to charity? You may have your own predispositions with the Make-A-Wish Foundation (which are ridiculous, they're a completely reputable, transparent, not-for-profit organization), but you're just retarded if you think Blizz is "hiding" anything. No one is denying that Blizz is making money off this. But you can't deny that they're giving up a % of their potential revenues to Charity - THAT'S A GOOD THING!! WHAT KIND OF COLD-HEARTED BASTARD ARE YOU?

    Re: Introducing the Pet Store

You know, the people saying that OMFG GEAR STORE IS NEXT should realize something.
Charging real money for in-game Non-Combat items...
Prepare to have your minds blown.

    Are you ready?

You know the CCG, with its loot cards?

BLIZZARD HAS BEEN DOING EXACTLY THIS THE ENTIRE TIME! FOR YEARS! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Re: Introducing the Pet Store

The reading comprehension of some people is just astounding.

Does this mean you'll be introducing more services like this in the future? Will you be introducing the ability to buy epic weapons/etc. in the future, for example?
As with the pets, mounts, and other items players can obtain through Loot cards from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, Pet Store pets are purely cosmetic and just for fun. Like other paid services we offer, such as Paid Name Changes, Race Changes, and Character Re-Customizations, the Pet Store service is entirely optional and intended to provide players another means to enjoy World of Warcraft in a way that isn't detrimental to the game and that doesn't detract from the gameplay experience for players who choose not to use the service.
If this seriously aggravates many of you as much as it seems to, STOP PLAYING. But, you're not going to. All of you QQ'ing about Blizz being money whores are just going to (guess what!) keep feeding them your money every damn month! You aren't forced to buy it. Those who did aren't magically better than you. Just shut the hell up and go back in your holes.

The coffee costs them not even $1 in labor to make, and they are making even more profits because some idoits thinks that a nickel of $6 going to a "good cause" is an excuse to waste $6 on an overpriced coffee.

Its even worse with this stupid panda thing. How much does it cost blizzard again to give you something that doesn't even actually exist?

If you want to give to a cause, give directly to that cause. This shit pisses me off.
WHAT?! STFU noob and live with it blizz can do w/e the hell they want!

Seriously though you and very few others can see whats happening, this will be the day that most remember wow going completely into the shitters. It is amusing that most people are complaining about this in the context of something that they're not actually doing. Complain about having a Gear Store when they actually have a gear store, not before then.

Blizz is starting to get greedy here. They want MOAR and MOAR $$$. Sure it's nice for players that want pets, but come on. What's next?

    Re: Introducing the Pet Store

To all the people complaining about Blizzard not donating enough money, you've clearly never been closely involved with a charity in your life.

A charity, and the people it serves, does not care how much each donator donates in proportion to their income. If Blizzard only donated $5 TOTAL, the charity wouldn't care, it is 5 more dollars to make dreams come true.

$5 dollars, depending on the charity, can give a child clothing for the winter. Can provide one more meal for a poor family. Can do so much. If you think these charities actually sit around and whine about how much money a donating organization can donate, then you need to get off of your couch and actually work to help people. Because you clearly haven't.

    Good day Commercialism.
If I was a Blizz server technician, I'd hijack a server and use it to download porn 24/7. Guess why the instance servers always are full B]

You do realise that the whole charity thing is just to make the whole pet shop thingy look good? If they actually cared, they would not stop after 2 month, and make BOTH pets donate to charity, not just monk. Geez, they didn't even want to loose extra cash from lil kt.

    You forgot one:

The Sims 3 will kill WoW!

(Actually, while TS3 has been quite successful as it's predecessors TS1 and TS2, I haven't heard about WoW's subscriptions getting dented with TS3's June[?] release.)

(And for the note of it, I happen to play both of those games. [TS3 and WoW])

You do realize that in two months, Blizzard will likely sell enough monk pets to donate 100 thousand dollars, right? You do know how much money that is to a charity, right?

Honestly, it doesn't matter if they "actually cared," a lot of money will be going to a charity. That's what really matters.

Blizzard: We're offering a donation to charity that we're under no obligation to offer, on an item that you are under no obligation to buy!

You: YEAH WELL IT'S NOT ENOUGH!

When somebody gives you birthday gifts, do you return them if they're not a high enough value?

    Re: Introducing the Pet Store

THIS IS A CRIME. What blizzard is doing is evil. PURELY evil.
Not only are they trying to make money but they're having their profits by donating half the sales of the monk to charity. Which is just terrible that they're doing this whole thing on launch when the most people are likely to buy. =( I say we take the people who work for blizz, and the guy who owns that 7/11 down the street from you. And the guy at the soup place down the lane, and everyone trying to sell something on trade for a profit, and throw them in a pit! How dare they try to make money.... EVIL

    Re: Introducing the Pet Store

If the $10 dollars for a vanity pet is too expensive for you, then uh... don't buy it? Is this just a concept to hard for people to grasp?

The great thing about capitalism? If you can't afford it you don't have to buy it. You have a choice. If you really want it, go get a job, beg your parent, rob a store and get it.

Micro transactions aren't a new concept. If you own an Ipod touch and buy apps, you've already done it. Ton's of other MMO's do it.

Also for people who lack the ability to understand how a business survives. Sure WoW in the current state is profitable, but then what happens 5-6 years down the line? Eventually WoW will plateau, and shrink. Blizzard's revenue is going to ensuring that they will remain profitable in the future as well by developing new IP's and games.
