for lvl 1-20 i used to play as balance but i give talent points at feral. when i get cat form i start playing melee. but it's all about your playing style. as blizz will increase mp5 for low levels it can be easier to level up with balance with no mana problems...

1-20: Wrath spam PEW PEW, as treem said you can do it pretty well with regen changes.
Put your talent points into feral.
20-80: Go down the feral tree, get in cat form, spam claw (until mangle, then spam mangle) and FB to finish. Shift out and in to heal when necessary. Primary stat is agility.
Druids are the easiest thing in the world to level. If you need to multi-pull and feel like you might die, either go bear and swipe spam or root one while you claw the other.
Bringing the "hardcoar" to casual since 2009.

druids are extremely survival, also its really fun and easy to level them up.

btw. i'll also roll a hunter or a druid worgen when cataclysm comes out.

I've got an entire stickied guide for druid levelling. It should have everything you need:

You are making such preperations for a game that hasn't any announced date. Meanwhile you'll drop the idea anyway, and regreth you bought everything. Don't make such a haste. The heirloom won't run away, and besides there might be future changes regarding heirloom, because they don't want it to be a part from 80-85. Don't make a plan about a character 6+ months ahead :P

if u do want hierloom those that u wana use amt is probely the 2H fire resist mace, haste trinkets , chest , shoulders ofc

Re: Any good advice at all for leveling droods?

    First, you'll want:

    Trinket x2
    Shoulders
    Chest
    Weapon

Also, if you're a fisher and can grab it, your ring.

Said that, as people mentioned you want agility as a main stat. Keep stamina to a decent level (meaning, no "of agility" greenies) so you can ho Bear and tank the occasional instance.

Your talents will look like this:

    lv20 - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGz
    lv30 - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMccbz
    lv40 - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMcfrz0xo
    lv50 - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMcfrz0eR0uz
    lv60 - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMcfrz0eR0uzZbA - followed by Omen of Clarity at lv61
    lv70 - http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMcfrz0eR0uuIZbA0z

Then you get Rend&Tear maxed, Berserk, Primal Gore.

    At level 74, you're here: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMcfrz0eR0uuAkbA0z

You can now chose how to level the last part to 80. If you want to tank some instances, you'll shift to PotP and NR/IW, like this build: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMcfrzMeRcGuAkbA0z

If you want to keep questing and go Cat all the time, you'll go like this: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMcfrz0eR0GuAkbAczb

These are, by all means, levelling builds, not something to raid with at 80. But it should give you the general idea of where to go.

The heirloom items are still useful 1-80. At that point picking up a lvl 81 blue from a dungeon is pretty viable.

As for talents, Survival of the Fittest, Nurturing Instince and Imp Leader of the Pack are probably the best 3 talents for leveling fast once you get to them. Zero down time is the goal.
