    Question about druids dots

So, I read the boomkin guide and had a question about refreshing dots. The way it was worded seemed, to me, to imply that it's okay to refresh dots during the spam portion trying to proc an eclipse and during the solar eclipse? If this is so, then why? Is it because wrath has a shorter casting time than starfire and therefore you can get more in anyway, or is it just because wrath's damage compared to starfire's is lower and refreshing dots during the solar eclipse won't make much of a difference?

    Re: Question about druids dots

The sticky explains this but not really in an easy to understand way because the idea of it is somewhat hard to understand. If your dots fall off during an eclipse you will lose more dps than you would clipping them during the procc fishing part of the rotation. When eclipse proccs you want to have the oppurtunity to spam nuke as much as possible so it's an increase to allow for pure casting during an eclipse as the lesser of two evils

The above post is incorrect. The rotation is rather simple: Wrath until lunar eclipse. Starfire until LE ends and solar eclipse procs. Rinse and repeat. Throughout all this, if your dots falls off (even during eclipse), refresh them. You can go with not refreshing dots if you have less than a few seconds left on eclipse, but this is more of a personal preference. Try and have as high uptime on dots as you can.

EDIT: I did some calculations on IS as an example in another thread: http://www.mmo-champion.com/class-dr...43/#msg1764943
For the second it takes to cast IS, it will do more damage than say a second to cast wrath or half the cast time of starfire.

So if you have time to throw out another nuke, do it then refresh dots but if it's like...1 second left, go ahead and refresh them?

Either way is fine. You can either chose to refresh your dots whenever they fall off, or, if you only have a few seconds left on eclipse, you can choose to keep nuking. The difference in damage in this is really minute, but if a dot falls off during most of eclipse, its well worth to refresh it.
