edit: added all of your suggestions too Duilliath...we'll see how it goes!

Was hoping for things just a hair bit softer / melodic, but this will round out my upper end of the spectrum nicely.

One of my favorite songs right now: (slowly realizing I'm probably the equivalent of a Justin Beiber fan here...y'all are hardcore)
I tried to stay in the vein of In Flames & Soilwork (melo death/Gothenburg sub-genre). Like Duilliath said, try Killswitch Engage as well.

Also, happy 200th page ladies and gents!

I feel so dirty after posting that....

Progressive Technical Death Metal band. It's quite a young band and I love their album!

New Parkway Drive album is streaming:

    Edit:

After finishing first listen - this is really, really awesome. It is easily their most diverse and mature album they have ever released. It has a pretty brooding atmosphere that is slightly present on Deep Blue but is much more expanded here, with more guitar soloes/leads and clean guitar parts than they have ever used, as well as a few surprises (clean female vocals in a Parkway Drive track?). I am definitely impressed.

Also contains relatively few breakdowns by Parkway standards for those people who are for some reason offended by a sudden drop in tempo.

    You rang?

I was thinking more about running the whole thing as a motif. Hats and leather bootstraps, lyrics about train robberies and saloon shootouts, melodies inspired by spaghetti western soundtracks, etc.

For those interested in some black metal, Summoning is amazing. All of their songs and lyrics take influence from J.R.R. Tolkein's Lord of the Rings poems/ballads/etc. The way they sort of present the lyrics and music, it seems like they have a complete different perspective on the culture and motifs scattered throughout Middle-Earth in contrast to Peter Jackson (Their 3 albums were made in the mid to late 90s).

I don't really know how to put the video up correctly, so I'll just link it.
