Seriously running short on time to keep up with the flurry of interesting releases these days:
    1. Starless Domain - ALMA.
    2. Andavald - Undir skyggðarhaldi.
    3. Ancient Hostility - Ancient Hostility.

  2. #9042
    That Andavald is extremely good

New Twilight Force track is okay, the mix is still terrible like the last album and Conti is a worse vocalist than Christian imo. Speaking of Christian, his new band released a single at the same time and it is way more generic musically but with better mixing and his better vox.

Holy hell their show is god tier. Just as cheesy as their music

edit: new singer is fine, music is still awesome. I liked the increased string usage in their 2nd album, despite the overall album being meh

They fired him via text and made a public in character announcement that he didn't contribute to the band anyways, it was really shitty of the band to do

I think it's fair to say there is a metal community. People that talk about it online in various places, the overarching fans of the genre that interact with eachother and how it's perceived from the outside looking in.

There is no metal brotherhood though.

A brief interruption formulated as "real talk": how do you tolerate Ewigkeit's derivative of DSEGV? Like it, dislike it, mostly indifferent?

To me, the original emotional payload is altered, perhaps defaced, to the point of becoming unrecognizable. The remains are but smoldering embers of melancholia, admittedly soothing and entrancing, if not endearing; everything else gets sublimated. Taken by light (cough) are the gloom and the despair, the hopelessness and the anguish. What was once (cough) torment, it's now serenity.

The music itself is fine in a cutesy and adorable, so-not-typical-of-black manner. Too bad there's an inexorable cognitive dissonance following swiftly every time I listen to it.

I opened the link, saw 'Burzum Reggae Dub' version and decided some things are better left unexplored.

    1. Karak - A feast in the mine.
    2. Abigorum - Exaltatus Mechanism.
    3. Molde - The Messenger. (a couple of other previews on YT: YT1, YT2)
    4. Olkoth - The Immortal Depths & Treasures of Necromancy.

Don't judge books by their covers, regardless of how uninspired those covers may be. Fast forward to 08:45 to witness the part which introduces the "vi har aldri levd" epitaph, at least you'll satiate the curiosity. It's not metal, but it's not the mainstream Dreck which passes as music nowadays either.

I'm out of the loop since last decade, but I'm starting to get annoyed seeing all these no-name (to me) metal bands spamming all their albums into colored vinyls...

That shit is supposed to be rare..at least to me...

I still got plenty colored Iron Maiden colored vinyls, albums n singles. Maybe they aren't worth much today to have a colored original/import Live in Japan vinyl, but at least has sentimental value. What sentimental value is someone supposed to get from every band under the sun today spamming dat shit?...They make it too commonplace...

    Just look at this...fucks sake..

I'm a huge fan of progressive black metal.
Ihsahn's new stuff. Enslaved, Katatonia to name my big three.
I just get more out of the melodic sounds and clean lyrics than traditional 'death screams'. I don't mind heavy guitar as long as it's not constant scratching.

the rarity comes in how many of them are available, like pressed in only a few hundred, all numbered by hand etc.
I had fun once, it was terrible.

Personally, I didn't really buy into the outrage. Reading the lyrics gave me the impression that they were more satirical than anything. It's almost like they "debunk" fascism. The interview kind of confirms that. For me, this makes Furnaces one of their most important albums because it's actually artistic and meaningful in a more tangible way even if it's still pretty edgy. The music, despite very different from previous albums, is still among the same lines but paired with this lyrics, Furnaces struck me as one of the few actually menacing and evil albums I've heard.
It's 2019, even Kinder Surprise eggs seem to be offending people. The problem is however that these offended snowflakes that comprise 0.0001% of the population are so loud they can shut down even the biggest media outlets. The needle drop for example deleted the youtube review because he merely read some random twitter account going "this album is about fascism and one guy who may or may not even be in the band said something racist against x 20 years ago". I personally think it's hilarious and the controversy itself lines DSO's pockets with money, which I am more than ok with, talent should be rewarded, this album is definitely worth it.

I guess I'll be that .00001% soyboy snowflake and say Mikko Aspa is absolutely a nazi and the racist shit he said wasn't from 20 years ago.

Edit: Also saying "otherkin specialists" and "snowflake" makes you look pretty dumb and shuts down discorse on the subject, but apparently that's what you want? I don't know.

Seconding this, Mikko Aspa absolutely adheres to Nazi politics and is a known anti-Semite with a lot of long fingers in the NSBM pie.

He owns a record store that sells neo-Nazi literature, founded Vapaudenristi (need I say more), has toured with self-proclaimed NSBM bands (like Pagan Skull and Deus Mortem), and has attended and played at neo-Nazi events.

Fuck him and any project he touches.
