    The resurgence of Nu-Metal?

I know this topic is going to be rather heated so I do ask to please keep it civil. Nu-Metal has been one of the most heated discussions in modern music ever since it's birth in the 90s. I personally dislike the label "Nu-Metal" (Very much like I dislike most labels branded on music that to me fall on the same genre, but that's still very personal).

One of the most memorable bands of the Nu-Metal movement was/is Limp Bizkit, love them or hate them they are still around. Ever since they announced their upcoming album "Gold Cobra" there's been talk about this musical movement rising up again from the ashes. Apparently bands like Korn and Deftones have new albums coming up and old communities dedicated to the Nu-Metal movement are opening up their websites once more.

The point of this thread is, what are your thoughts? Would you give Nu-Metal a chance if the sound is perhaps a bit more mature or evolved? Or are you happy that this genre is once again taking another swing?

Personally, I am pretty pumped. Nu-Metal was a very big part of my evolution as a music addict and a musician. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Deftones all helped me step up to other branches of music from Jazz and Blues to Death Metal. I always saw it as an experimental genre (until it got big and famous and the industry turned it into Pop Rock 2.0).

I've been keeping close tabs on Limp Bizkit's new album to see where the band (And the genre altogether) is headed this year and I have to say I'm rather pumped. Hopefully Nu-Metal will have a better, more mature sound than it did in the 90s and with the teasers the guys from Limp Bizkit have leaked out I do think they are headed in that direction. Better musical structure and even taking the time to add musical solos (which I love).

Again, keep it civil. I know this is a potential flame war but I trust my friends in the MMO-Champion community will behave. If not, then this thread will be locked and I will once again say to myself "this is why we can't have nice things".

Linkin Park is described at Nü Metal. I like Linkin Park. Hence, I guess I like the genre.

imo, Linkin Park were really good nu metal. "Hybrid Theory" was. Meteora was a blurred mirror image of hybrid theory so maybe Meteora could be considered halfway good. The rest I don't like. HT was new, the rest I think was just a try to musically get to the greatness of their beginnings. Commercial success says otherwise I know.
Hell I even like Fort minor way better than the new LP stuff.

Nu Metal is a pretty cool guy, act liks a cunt and doesen't afraid of anything...
Wait no, thats just Fred Durst.

But yeah, Nu Metal is pretty nice, excluding Limp Bizkit for obvious reasons (They're music is nice, but I simply cannot stand how much of a dick that guy is.)

Oh please god no... the last thing we need is Limp Bizkit coming back, how about a grunge revival instead? Pearl Jam are going strong, Alice in Chains are back, Soundgarden are reforming this summer and Nirvana... well we still have Dave and Krist :P

Korn is actually very good. I find some songs of Linkin Park to be Ok. Limp Bizkit, I can't stand one minute of.. Slipknot aren't my cup of tea either. That's what I can say about nu metal.

LP are good. Limp Bizkit needs to die, honestly. Wes Borland has so much he could do but instead he beats the dead horse of the dead in death for dead deads. Actually, I take some of it back. Limp Bizkit can stay alive if Fred Durst has nothing to do with it. If The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) was an instrumental album, it would've been great.

Deftones have been a mainstay, and have consistently put out good music. Their bassist was in a really bad accident in 2008 and is listed as being in a minimally-conscious state (like one step up from a coma), and they've been playing benefit shows to help his family with the medical bills. If you like them, you should give Team Sleep a try. It's Chino's solo outing and it's pretty sick.

Korn needs to quit also. Ever since they gave Head to Jesus, their music hasn't been the same since.

    Agree 100%
Nu Metal, was always... "awkward" for me, I always pretended to like it as it was popular, but was never a huge fan. So if it comes back
I'm gnna have to listen to crap like Limp Bizkit again.
You can tell WoW changed the MMO for good when players started complaining about the amount of time they sink, into a time sink.
