Hi guys new poster here, been monitoring the forums for a while and decided to join
Well ill give you all the general to give you an idea of what im playing on
Cpu: Amd Athlon 6000X2 running at 3.1 Ghz
Ram: 2GB of OCZ clocked at 800 mhz
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon 4870
Power Supply: 600W OCZ
Motherboard: Asus M2r32-mvp
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit
WoW settings: Res: 1280x1024 w 4x multisampling
Most other settings are set to medium or high.
Now to describe my problem,
I have been having random Disconnections on WoW for a while now. I can stay on Vent but i get kicked of the game, I also have a latency of around 300-400 ms when i log in but it shortly spikes to 800 and hovers at 700. I get latencies of around 450 usually when i raid and the like. I have disabled all the addons and tried but i still get random DC's and high latency.
Here is a list of fixes i have tried.
I have the Leatrix latency fix installed. Ran WoW in admin mode. Lowered all GFX settings to low. Tried fresh re install. None of them helped in the slightest.
Its becoming annoying and i can PvP anymore because i can either get randomly kicked off or my latency is too high to get off those crucial interupts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, sorry if i missed something thought i got it all just ask if you ned any additional info and i will try get it asap.
Try resetting/updating your routers firmware, and temporary disable the firewall/antivirus. You might also be able to give your ISP a ring, and see if they can detect problems.
Just having a problem updating router firmware, in my router settings it says i have v7.00.23 installed, now i check for firmware upgrades and there is one for V7.00.24, so i Dl'd it and browsed for the Bin file for the router and clicked update firmware. The modem reset and all and internet was fine, but it still says im running V7.00.23?
I cannot make any suggestions regarding your firmware update, but in regards to your disconnects and lag, here are some things you can try:
Clear your game cache by deleting <WoWInstallFolder>\Cache (be prepared for a long load time the next time you log in as it has to rebuild that cache filed. The long load can even seem like a lock-up if you're in a populated area; just let it go and be patient)
Ensure your router has ports 1119 TCP, 3724 TCP/UDP, 6112 TCP, and 6881-6999 TCP/UDP open (refer to your router's manual, as this is different for each brand/model)
Perform a traceroute and post the results here
Connect to WoW (all the way into your character)
Alt-Tab to Windows
Click Start, Choose Run, enter "cmd" in the box
At the command prompt that opens, type: netstat -a|find "3724"
Note the IP address in front of the 3724 and leave the command prompt open
Close WoW
In the command prompt, type: tracert <IP address from the netstat command> (ex. tracert 127.0.0.1) (Do not include the colon and port number)
Hops 3 and 4 timing out aren't really a good thing. Also, there's a huge jump in ping from hops 6 to 7. That's while the packet is still attributed to South Africa too. Hop 8 is where it moves on to the UK, so hop 7 might be the intercontinental hop. Hops 15+ are likely internal to Blizzard, which is why they time out on a trace route.
When your pings spike to 800ms+, how long do they stay like that? Is it long enough to do another traceroute during the laggy period? That may give us a better idea, though I realize it's tough to catch sometimes.
[edit: Checked agian and it looks like hops 3 and 4 might be internal to the ISP during a trade-off. At hop 5 the packet starts with a different ISP. So the timeouts on hops 3 and 4 may be nothing.]
