Not sure if I'm heading on the right path to solving my FPS issue...

Okay so first of all here is my issue, I have a pretty good FPS in 10mans, but its not as high as I'd like it to be, its around 30-40fps, but in 25m its terribly low, almost unplayable at some points. I have gone through all the steps listed in the sticky, I'm not playing in windowed mode, have the latest drivers, disabled my combat log, etc... And it has seem to helped somewhat, but not enough. I purchased this computer about 2 years ago, and since I have upgraded every part of it including the case, heatsink, etc... but the CPU and motherboard.

    Here is my dxdiag info:

So going the route that I'd like to upgrade my CPU and motherboard, I'm looking at this combination from NewEgg, I'd like to spend >350$ total, and this will include updating my ram to DDR3.

    CPU+Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.334827
    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227346

Would these combos work together? I currently have a really bad Intel Pentium D, so I would be moving from Intel -> AMD. I'm mainly doing this because I heard the price is cheaper, but you get the same amount of performance. Keep in mind I'm not a hard core gamer, but I would like to have a high end system that I can play most games on. I also have no problem upgrading to 64-bit, which I think would be better since I'd have 4 gigs of RAM.

Any suggestions on my issues before I go out and buy this stuff? Am I on the right track? Will everything work okay???

    Thanks!

Re: Not sure if I'm heading on the right path to solving my FPS issue...

I cannot make any suggestions, as I'm not really that familiar with AMD or AMD chipsets. I looked and the best Intel equivalent I could find would be:

    i5 750 - $195
    Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H motherboard - $85
    4GB of OCZ DDR3 1333 - $95

That totals up to $375 (with a $10 mail in rebate on the RAM). So that's a bit above what you've listed as your budget, but it's an Intel alternative. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful on the AMD front.

That is the motherboard and Processor I just used in a machine I built. So far I am happy with it and how it performs. I went with a Micro ATX board because I do not plan on going crossifre so that would definitly be up to your likings. I use supertalent memory for my setup so I can't comment on seems to be pretty good just make sure you check the compatability with the boards because some memory gives certain boards a fit.

What video card are you going to be using? I would also suggest as you mentioned going 64-bit I never thought it would make a ton of difference but on some stuff I do you can definitly notice.
