Having to Raid for PvP gear -

Started a thread today on the wow forums. If you'd like to support it, you can do so here:
    http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...25764284&sid=1

    Here's the thread -

...it attracted many players to Arenas who really had no business being in there or in fact didn't even enjoy it.
Why must PvPers PvE then? (Warning, as a healer, I will be comparing healing gear. Feel free to post your own personal set).

    Item Comparisons:
With trinkets, you use a PvE trinket that gets you out of crowd controls. The second trinket slot you have your option between a PvE trinket or a PvP trinket.

    TRINKETS
    -

    Solace of the Fallen (PvE):
Equip: Increases spell power by 150.
Equip: Each time you cast a helpful spell, you gain 16 mana per 5 sec. for 10 sec. Stacks up to 8 times.

    Battlemaster's
Equip: Increases spell power by 150.
Use: Increases maximum health by 4608 for 15 sec. Shares cooldown with other Battlemaster's trinkets. (3 Min Cooldown)
The choice is obvious. Not only is mana regen optimal for a healer, it doesn't have a cooldown.

    RINGS -
    Wrathful:
    +103 Stamina
    +46 Intellect
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 60 (1.31% @ L80).
Equip: Improves your resilience rating by 60 (0.73% @ L80).
Equip: Increases spell power by 106.

    WG Ring:
    +72 Stamina
    +32 Intellect
Equip: Improves your resilience rating by 42 (0.51% @ L80).
    Equip: Improves haste rating by 42 (1.28% @ L80).
Equip: Increases spell power by 74.

    Relentless:
    +86 Stamina
    +38 Intellect
    Equip: Improves hit rating by 50 (1.91% @ L80).
Equip: Improves your resilience rating by 50 (0.61% @ L80).
Equip: Increases spell power by 89.

    Compared to PvE Rings:

    Incarnadine Band of Mending:
    +69 Stamina
    +69 Intellect
Blue Socket // Socket Bonus: +5 Spell Power
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 52 (1.13% @ L80).
Equip: Restores 30 mana per 5 sec.
Equip: Increases spell power by 97.

    Ring of Rapid Ascent:
    +69 Stamina
    +69 Intellect
Blue Socket // Socket Bonus: +5 Spell Power
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 60 (1.31% @ L80).
    Equip: Improves haste rating by 52 (1.59% @ L80).
Equip: Increases spell power by 97.

    Ashen Verdict:
    +73 Stamina
    +73 Intellect
Yellow Socket // Socket Bonus: +2 mana every 5 sec.
    Equip: Improves haste rating by 59 (1.8% @ L80).
Equip: Restores 30 mana per 5 sec.
Equip: Increases spell power by 101.
Equip: Your helpful spells have a chance to increase your spell power by 285 for 10 sec.
A couple things between the rings. First is that none of the PvP rings have a proc -- at all. None of the PvP rings have gem slots, all the PvP rings do. Aside from the wrathful ring, the other two rings do not have a big enough stam. difference to matter, while they have an unbelievable regen difference.

    Weapons:

    Starting PvP/PvE Weapon -

    Seethe:
    +39 Stamina
    +52 Intellect
    Equip: Improves hit rating by 39 (1.49% @ L80).
    Equip: Improves haste rating by 52 (1.59% @ L80).
Equip: Increases spell power by 550.

Next step in gearing for PvE 10 mans:

    Lockjaw:
    +68 Stamina
    +56 Intellect
    Equip: Improves haste rating by 52 (1.59% @ L80).
Equip: Restores 26 mana per 5 sec.
Equip: Increases spell power by 657.

Next step in gearing for PvP - BGs:

    Nothing.

Next step in gearing for PvE 25 mans (I'll be fair and not link LK loot):

    Trauma:
    +53 Stamina
    +53 Intellect
Equip: Increases spell power by 741.
Equip: Each time your spells heal a target you have a chance to cause the target of your heal to heal themselves and friends within 10 yards for 217 each sec for 6 sec.

Next step in gearing for PvP - 1800 rating:

    +88 Stamina
    +59 Intellect
Blue Socket // Socket Bonus: +5 Spell Power
Requires personal and team arena rating of 1800
Equip: Improves your resilience rating by 51 (0.62% @ L80).
Equip: Restores 25 mana per 5 sec.
Equip: Increases spell power by 738.
Then there's heroic 25 man vs 2200 rating. Regardless, you guys get the picture. The obvious problem is the difference between the 10 man level and the BG level. There's nothing there. Aside from that, there aren't procs on any weapons in PvP.

There are many other examples for off hands, bracers, back, neck, belt, and boots. The point is:

Raiding gear attracts many players to raiding who really had no business being in there or in fact didn't even enjoy it.

Maybe pvpers don't want to raid but really don't have an option as there's nowhere else to get the gear.

I'm not implying that at all.

What I do think is outrageous that GC is shunning the fact that people felt as if they HAD to do arenas in order to be competitive in raids, yet people actually do HAVE to do PvE in order to optimize their PvP set.

    :O Read GC's quote.

We definitely make mistakes, but you are mischaracterizing how we feel about Arena. The problem was that the initial BC Arena gear was so easy to obtain, that it attracted many players to Arenas who really had no business being in there or in fact didn't even enjoy it. They just went where the loot was. In LK, we offered the same or better loot through raiding and lots of people went raiding.
Think the point flew over your head =P I used his word for word in order to show he's doing the exact same thing that he seems to regret, only this time he's doing it to PvPers.
