Source? Because right now when I log into the beta you can't even see the main menu without putting in your account info. (And yes this could be to prevent people without keys tied to their account from playing single player, which is why I'm asking) Although you can see the single player mode button in the menu, it's just grayed out.

Blizzard will already be getting enough of my money. I aint giving them $100 for a campaign and mediocre, in-game transformer.
I doubt that the expansions would be anything close to 100 dollars. But we'll have to wait until Cataclysm comes out to see. As it stands, they'd probably 40 dollars for the normal and 70 for the CE, like the WoW expansions have been. As for the 100 dollar price tag, I wonder if people are just seeming to gloss over everything else that comes in the box that could more than justify the price.

Do you honestly believe that Blizzard did not put it in there to get some extra cash?
They could remove the pet and still push the SC2 collector's edition for roughly the same with all the other swag included in the package.
The pet is a fringe benefit for diehard fans who are willing to shell out so much for the collector packages of all things Blizzard.

"off-line mode", not "single player". Being forced to use a Internet connection prevents you from playing SCII on lan-party in places where there is no Internet access. Playing on a local area network is (in my honnest opinion) the very soul of Starcraft and Warcraft III. It provided a lot of fun. Constrain SCII to an Internet access won't help that philosophy, people will rather play SCII being geographically alone.

It has nothing to do with activision.

D2 Expac went for 35 bucks at a time when 25 was the norm for a PC expansion. WC3 went for 60 when the norm was 50 even for a console game. WC3 expac went for 40 bucks when the norm was 30 for an Xpac.

Blizzard has been charging a premium since D2, because they can. People know they're getting good value even at 10 dollars extra.

Bobby Kotick/Activision are very easy to hate, but don't let your hatred make your retarded.

**IF* you want to blame something on activision, blame the decision to break the game into 3 pieces vs 2 in the past. Blizzard has a history of selling a game, then selling an expansion, then moving onto the next game. The trend of making a game and then 17 expansions is a trick that started with EA and Activision.

I believe the Warcraft III Collector's edition cost me 89.99 when it came out. Too bad i have no idea where the box is anymore.

Also, you know what's awesome about thor? i fucking absolutely love it when someone's detective skills kicks in and points out that "it is a parody "Arnold Schwarzenegger"." and then they put their favorite zany quote that he did!

I don't know where you guys got your games, but I definitely did not pay more than $50 for wc3 or even wow, and I got them pretty much within two weeks of their release. The expansions were all $30 as well.

That said the price "hike" isn't news, since they've been charging $40 for expansions ever since Burning Crusade, it only follows that the actual game would go up as well.

I pity you so much. Come to europe and come see game prices. In switzerland games go for about 90 to 120CHF which is roughly 80-110$. Blizzard is no slave, for me thats a normal price. I would buy a video game for 60$ anyday here.

Re: WoW In-Game Pet in SC2 Collector Edition

How many times are they gona add a pet to some form of service just so it sells.. seems like the "here throw us money, get "another" pet is getting tiresome, and this is coming from someone who has quite a few card game pets, collector edition pets, auth. pet, blizzstore pets, plushies pets etc .. There's just so many pets you can "want" before the exp wears thin and it feels "not worth it" anymore... pets are like there cashcow.. anything they do, well add a pet and it will sell 50k items more.

Yes I know you don't "need" to do it, but me, as in a lot of peepz are trying to grab em all and get as "perfect" as possible.. but this is starting to get into a position where it's not about collecting anymore but just who got the biggest wallet..

Anyone noticed the Thors portrait? Looks a bit like Solid Snake if you ask me...

Warriors need a bigger rotation as Fury... I've seen people reaching 16k dps and they're basically only using HS, WW, Slam and the passive of Deep Wounds. :\

Re: WoW In-Game Pet in SC2 Collector Edition

I made forum name just to post this.
Non of you have ever played on Steam or the SC2 Beta. Now to put this to terms to wow. The pet will be tied to your Bnet account. So why do you think you will be able to sell it? Short answer is you can't. Because what do you think you log in to Starcraft 2 with... Oh I think it is wait for it.. Bnet. The same Bnet account your pet will be going to. Now that is how I think they will do it, but I could be wrong. Seeing as how the CD key you buy will be a SC2: CE one, and the account you will tie it too will the account you log into both games with. Not sure a Bnet account can be used to log into two different games with. For example Steam once you log in and pick a game your in. So lets say someone logs into your steam account. You get booted from the game and the reason given is "Your Steam account is being used on another Computer."
