    Tanking weapon

So i have recently begun pvping and i almost have enough for one of the Wrathful Gladiator weapons and i was wondering would it be ok to switch out http://www.wowhead.com/item=50048 for either http://www.wowhead.com/item=51388 or http://www.wowhead.com/item=51390 to use as a tanking weapon. Obviously i would be using Rune of the Stoneskin Gargoyle, and the stamina would far overshadow that of my current weapon, as well as the versatility of the two socket slots. I know the resilience would be wasted but what do y'all think?

I think that a PvP wepon can be a smart choise.

If u think about def cap its 540 in defense, but i prefer to see it as 5,6% decreased chans to be critically hit.
Resilience gives decreased chans to be critically hit, that makes u to still be def capped even when below 540 in defense.

For example if u get the 264 crafted tankingear (legs and boots) they booth dont have any defense.
If u equip them booth U will most likely get under 540 in defense and not be def capped.
But if u do that and have PvP wepon with resilience u will most likely still be def capped even with defense under 540.

    its more stam so yes.
You can tell WoW changed the MMO for good when players started complaining about the amount of time they sink, into a time sink.

not true, resilience only reduces chance to be critted by players and their pets, not npcs or mobs

Wrong. The crit chance reduction applies to everything, it's the damage reduction that works only towards other players and their pets.

though I usually don't advertise the usage of PvP weapons, they're too much of an upgrade in your case.
The two sockets make the weapon way better than your current one, and outdo the loss of threat stats.

    Re: Tanking weapon

PvP weapons are fairly good for tanking, and wrathful ones are better than Quel'Delar. Granted, the resilience is wasted if you're above 540 def, which you would be, but it's still a noticable upgrade even then.

Oh, this scared me for a sec, since I was just below the defence minimum, and having my shoulders enchanted with the pvp-resilience/stam.

A pvp weapon is a huge improvment over quel'dalar. Imo you should pick the Wrathful weapon for the increased stam and the gem slots. Just my opinion... :P

Go for Wrathful, since you'll get way more stamina, and damage (aka DK threat) aswell.

    Re: Tanking weapon

you can still get defense capped with the weapon as long as you use stoneskin also get the vendor chest since it has so much exp and defense to offset the legs and feet with none on it thats what i did.
    go for the pvp weapon.

Unless I'm somehow reading your armory wrong, you don't even have the "Win 1 Arena Match" achievement. How did you plan on buying a PvP weapon that requires you to be 1800 rated?

I have been getting the points with the random BG but you are right on this character i havent done arena's yet, i made this thread preemptively to see if it was even worth my time to try and get. i just worded it the way i did so that i would get constructive comments, as ive seen the ways some people here like to flame others for no reason.

    Re: Tanking weapon

In that case it's probably not worth the effort, since most ICC 10 weapons will give you equal or better stats with less time investment (depending on how good/bad you are in PvP ofc)

PS: Dors, what will you do for 1000th post?

    ^This is completely wrong, btw.
Unless you just haven't looked at the wrathful weapons and are thinking the ones from last season, wrathful 264 has an absurd amount of stamina. It's very easy to get defense capped and have enough hit, expertise, avoidance, and strength from the rest of your gear so that you don't really need any of those stats on your weapon, thus meaning stamina is the only stat that really matters a lot of the time. Feel free to find me another weapon that has over 300 stamina when socketed with non-JC gems and is as easy to get as an 1800 weapon.

Well, I'm utterly terrible at PvP, yet, I got boosted to 1800 last season by a relentless pally. In about two days. I think that's less time invested than waiting for a weapon drop.

I just wasted it on something constructive. But don't worry! The ten thousandth post will be something completely irrelevant, stupid and possibly ban worthy (at least a few days worth... you ain't a forum here 'till you've been banned at least once!)

For me? Pretty much everything from ICC10 hc. Why do people always assume that everyone is good at pvp? Most tanks I've met do A: not have any kind of pvp gear aside from insignia and B: suck at it.

The OP did not step a foot into arenas yet, and without gear and experience will probably be totaly butchered (no offense) if he doesn't get carried. And since ICC is easily pugable up to at least DBS, it should not be that big of a problem to receive a good weapon.

Ramaldni's Axe is a great alternative, and although it does have roughly 60 stamina and 100 weapondamage less, it's not as bad as it seems, due to having better threat sats (expertise/str) and giving a slight (~0,4%) increase in avoidance. The heroic version is even better.

And just for the record, I played a tree/ms combo in S4 and hardly got above 1700.
