Upgrading Motherboard, need opinions on my pick.

So I'm currently using an ASUS P5Q Turbo, and I recently purchased new ripjaw ram. Well my motherboard decided to be a nice guy and not support more than 2 gigs, when the build online clearly states it does up to 16. So I'm stuck between reaping ASUS a new mouth, or buying a new motherboard since I'm not thrilled with the problems this has given me. My pick for my price atm is:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136072

It was shown to me by my brother in law, and it looks decent for it's price. Now I'm curious as to whether I should get this and it will beable to keep all of my current gear. Or replace my current. Thoughts?
Sure, it's your $14.95 a month to play as you want, but in a raid it's our $358.50 and we think you're retarded.

first of all dont throw away your money just because it did not work after sticking in your new rams.
the board you have does support a lot more than 2gb, the reason why it doesnt work four you is either a compatibility problem with the specific modules you bought or one of the sticks is DOA (dead on arrival).

so what can you do ?
    a) check your bios version. for the p5q turbo there where multiple bios updates done to increase the compatibility with some ram modules
    b) test the rams you bought. stick in 1, see if your system boots, if yes remove that one and test with the other one.
    c) next time you buy new ram, check the QVL (qualified vendors list, its in the manual and lists what type of memory (brand and model) was tested by the manufacturer of the board to be working)

Thanks for the reply, the ram wasn't doa, I tested each stick and it was fine.
As for updating the Bios I was following a flash update guide on
    http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us
and it didn't work, so my guess is it may not have taken, but if will support the ram once I get the bios to update I'll definitely stick to my current board. There's just been a lot of reviews claiming it is having ram problems and I'm not sure if they were resolved, but I'll be sure to try a few more times.

that guide is good, im running on a p5q pro that uses the same bios/flashing system and it worked very good for me with the usb-key method.
i had problems with getting my system running with 4x2gb corsair dominators, and a bios update fixed it for me.
also if you get your bios updated and your system wont boot after that (not even post) dont be worried, reset the bios settings using the clear cmos jumper on the board and it will boot up again (had that problem on my board)

I know chances of this are slim, but do you have 562 memory cards? Gotta ask every question. Sometimes ( /raise hand /cough) you forget to plug in the power cord to your printer.

Also, 32 bit OS can only handle 4 gigs of ram, in order for more you need to buy a 64 bit US. (Make sure the processor is compatible)

And to answer your question, yes that motherboard looks good.

    Don't have 562 memory cards :P.

I'm going to be upgrading to 64 bit in a few days in preparation for when I actually get my ram working.
My Bios IS up to date, so it can't be that. So I'm probably going to be calling Asus for help, and then buying the board I picked if they tell me there's nothing I can do.
