2v2 Frost Mage/Rogue... Help!

I am a frost mage. I've been playing mage since vanilla and know the class rather well. My question is moreso turned to my partner, the rogue. He is currently a Mut/Prep spec, which is a popular spec (along with Sub) to be with a frost mage. I am wondering what the forums thoughts were on the perfect rogue spec to roll with a frost mage.

Also, I'd like to hear some tips on the strat we use. It's the standard Sap>Sheep>CChowever thing that mages and rogues do. CC one partner, kill the other. Are there ways to improve upon that, or another strat that may work better? He and I are easily able to get to 1500, but there seems to be a brick wall that stops us from going any further, and it causes my partner to second guess his and/or my spec.

Sweet mother of god.. The gear on both of you fails. Had you ACTUALLY had decent gear, advice would of been provided. But shit does the fail and noob small overwhelm me.

Some shit is fail gemmed and no enchants. Yeah. Just quit while you're not ahead.

doin rogue-mage in arena atm.. my rogue got to 80 1,5 week ago.. and the mage's been 80 for a month (made during WOTLK so no xp in vanilla or TBC)
we got to 1720 after (checkin how many we play'd) about 200 arena matches.. then we dropp'd cuz my teamate got tierd and unfocused :P
dunno why u cant get any decent rating.. muti/prep is the strongest and most used rogue specc.. and the only viable specc (as i've seen) above 2k
im playin Sub tho.. just cuz i think its more skillplay then the 3button muti specc :P

double DPS requiers alot from both players.. many ppl cant do it tbh (not sayin im imba.. its just what it is :P)
try playin subrogue-mage? or try to go arcane? or just get out of ur tunnlevision and dont stick with the same tacts every single match? :P
